Service Records?

I brought my recently purchased coupe to the dealer tonight to try and get the service records on it to see what the previous owner might have had done to it. Long story short he was pretty much dumbfounded and told me that I would have to go to the original dealer it was originally bought at and talk to them. Is this true? Shouldn't all Infiniti dealers have ties to service records?

Depends who is working. I had an Acura back in the day, they told me that they only brought it in for oil changes. That was it.

Not sure about Infiniti but know my Dodge Ram was serviced at a few different dealers and they had no way of tracking even warranty service.

I thought all of their systems were linked.

They are. I've been to 3 different Infiniti dealers and they could see the service I got done at each different one.

Maybe the previous owner never did maintenance at all at the dealer, at all, or took it to independent shops?

Service Advisors should be able to pull history, they may have to load your vehicle in the system, but there's NO reason they shouldn't be able to pull that information from you,
even if the original owner took it to independent shops, if it's been in Infiniti Service, there will be records like original PDI and anything done prior to warranty expiration, recalls.... etc

Phil's giving the the correct information....^....sadly who ever you talked to at your Infiniti dealership was a lazy azz. Go back and ask to see the manager, if they want your business you need this information! (that's what you tell 'em) Once you get the info you're better off finding an independent shop or going to Nissan for service....Gary

if all else fails, call Infiniti Consumer Affairs, and they should be able to get that info for you, sad that you would have to resort to that, but........... I agree with gary, tell the Service Manager at your local dealership that you requested your Infiniti records, and service advisor didn't know what to do.....
