Catalytic Convertors worth stealing?!
"In addition, several apartment complexes in the Sandy Springs/ Dunwoody corridor had vehicles that had their catalytic convertors stolen. The vehicles targeted were Honda CRV’s, they are targeted for their clearance from the ground and higher levels of precious metals. This has only occurred in apartments so far but be on the lookout. If you have vehicles parked in driveways or carports please try to keep these areas well lit or have motion lights in the area."
People are now stealing cats for precious metals?!
Another reason to drop your ride! Let's get a coilover group buy going!
WTF is wrong with people?

This has been going on for a while now. Mostly go after trucks b/c they're higher off the ground. My brother-in-law broke down a few years ago and by the time they got back to his truck on the side of the road, someone had saw-zawed the cats off.
Almost as bad as copper pipes in older homes.

They're either standing outside HomeDepot or stealing your converters! They should be busting the companys that buy the copper/converters, that would slow down what's been going on for several years....Gary

This is why it should be legal to carry a rocket launcher. That way you can set a car as bait, follow the thieves home, and blow up their house with everyone in it.
At my storage property here in California I had a couple trade in cars (2 Hondas and one Durango) and all three of the cars cats were stolen...it's not THAT easy to steal yet these guys took them and my property Is on a main boulevard too....idiots these days
Its what the cats are made of thats the big money. Scrap yards around here pay anywhere from 40-400 for a pair because of the platinum and other metals inside of them. Aftermarket cats don't get as much as OEM ones though because they're usually lower quality and have less of the precious metals.
A friend of my cousins works for an autowrecker whose owner can be a douche, so when the guy is late with paychecks or refuses to pay over time, he just heads into the yard and cuts off some cats and has my cousin take them to a scrap yard to get the money for them. 4 sets willl usually net him $1200-1600.

There is also Gold in them as well from what i hear. I had a friend sell his and got $200 bucks for an old catalytic convector of a corolla. They are worth money and newer the better. But so much work to pull them off the car. I hope they catch these ppl for stealing.
