First major winter snow with the G coupe

Hey guys,

so we had a full snowfall for 2 days straight!. I recently bought some rims and firestone winter force tires for my 04 G35 Coupe. Needless to say I was pretty excited to give them a try.

WOW

this car handles extremely well with winter tires. Anyone else like to get out and have fun in the snow?

My G does beautifully in the snow with just all seasons! It's all about how you drive!

Snow tires make a HUGE difference, even with RWD.

I was out playing in the snow over the weekend too, but I have AWD

yea, my G has an LSD and the snows made it perfect. honestly, I was really impressed with everything. I had no issues with traction turning or sliding. The good news is, I got a really good deal on the winter force tires so they didn't break my bank either

The only issue I had really was from a start, I would spin a bit until I got moving but other than that I was golden

I did one season on snow tires. I didn't have a second set of rims so i just swapped the tires. The next winter i got lazy and just left the All-seasons on, decided it was good enough and sold the snow tires.

If i ever get a second set of rims, i'll run dedicated snow tires.

With that said, what are the specs on your sport wheels on your car? I was looking into the newer sport 18's and looking for specs. 18x7.5 all around? +45?

Had all seasons on thinking it would be good for winter on my coupe and boy was I wrong, lol. Final straw came last year when I was pulling into my driveway at like 2 MPH and the car slid and was heading straight for my mailbox. Luckily, it stopped but that very same night I went and spent 1500 at tirerack.com for 18" winter wheel setup. Haven't had a problem since with these PA winters, but I'm still leery of driving this car in any type of snow/slush.

blizzacks are the way to go. The past couple of winters i had a jeep, but have gone back to witner tires. Right now i have rear winter tires and summer in the front(While i wait for my 4th rim/tire to be shipped to me.

The front has no real traction, but the rears are just as good as i remember !

Drove my G one winter with blizzaks, it was very safe and handled quite well.
However with my summer tires on I could not move the car into the drive way. kept on spinning forever and wouldnt budge

so the only thing that stands out strange to me is that I have both of my cars setup with these tires. The IS300 and the G35... on the G35 i hear little to no tire noise... on the IS300 it sounds like I'm in a wind tunnel .. my god is it loud

Any ideas why?

G35 17x8 all the way around
IS300 16x7 all the way around
