Goodbye Infiniti!

After almost 12 years of proud Infiniti ownership, I am sorry to say that I'm done.

I've been pricing new cars for a year now, but I'm just tired of waiting for Infiniti to show an inspiring vehicle. new Q60 for 2016, maybe 2017 ... how long am I supposed to wait?

My first Infiniti (2003 6MT) was a leader in its segment when I bought it. Now, just about everybody else is offering 400+ HP. I'm not sure that they are "better" cars in terms of build/quality, but they're certainly pretty good and would satisfy my need for speed.

Meanwhile Infiniti fiddle-farts with the NA V6; maybe they'll offer a 370 HP Q60 next year?
Or the next?
BFD; go big or go home!

Sure, I've seen the Eau Rouge, but it still only a 4-door show car and will be north of $100K _if_ it makes it to production. I talked to the North American President at one event; Infiniti apparently has no plans to compete with M4/C63/RC-F/Z51 etc.

Too bad. I'm tired of waiting, and Infiniti can't even show me something worth waiting for.
(maybe they'll read this post and...nah)
Sorry, it was fun for a while...

No doubt. The G35 was the coolest accident ever. The brand is awful overall tho. They don't know who they are or what they want. I fully believe the G was a well planned accident

I'm halfway away. Infiniti didn't have what i wanted at THIS time. Though the 04 G35 was exactly what I wanted back in 03.

I have my new car. Waiting for a friend to get in the position to buy my G. Still handles great, and to me a nicely balanced power. Even if it is well back in the HP race compared to some new cars.

Now that mine's north of 100,000 miles, I'm starting to eye others. Not really because I don't like this one anymore, it's just that I know it's going to start hitting the point where reliability is going to start being questionable, and having reliable transportation is required for a career.

I am definitely addicted to the RWD sedan though, so the only real options are BMW (long-term maintenance is too expensive), Mercedes (same as BMW), Audi (yep...), Lexus (nothing appealing), Charger (bloated big), Chevy SS (promising) or Infiniti.

So I dunno, options aren't very good right now.

I'm in the same boat. Mine has 137K and it's a little long in the tooth so to speak. But what to get?

I can't spend north of 40K so the only thing that comes even close (new) is the WRX. Taking a long hard look at that one. I can get everything I want for less than 38K and a $600 Cobb access port and I'm north of 300hp/tq.

There is the looks though....

I've got 153K on mine....just seeing ifi can milk it to 200K while saving cash up for a new car.

Going to replace it with another Infiniti. Can't decide if I want a new Q50, or a later model G37x/Q40 or even a later model M37x/M45/50x.

I have a Benz now, and long term maintainence is just too costly even if i do it myself. I think you get better bang for the buck with Infiniti, and 300+ HP is fine for my needs as a daily driver. I have my other "fun" cars for high HP fun.

Consider a low mileage lease G37 Sedan? Those are really nice cars imo.

after 11.5 years and 158k miles.. i am itching for something new.. car is only worth maybe $4500..
I know my car is old as ****, but it has everything I need. Plenty of power, comfort, etc.. if the mpg was maybe a tad bit better, I would keep it for few more years.. Oh yea.. really wish I've gotten the heated seats.. that's the ONE thing i regret the most.. and no splitting rear seats kinda suck too.

Tried looking for something in the $45k range (new only).. nothing that excites me enough to spend the extra $40k..

Test drove 328i, 335i, 228i, TL, A4, S5, C250, C350, C300, G37, IS250, IS350, FX, and few others.. Loved the BMW's, but not $40k+ better.. (all those cars mentioned were definitely wayyyy better than my car).

personally, I really want a S3 or a M3.. but we are talking ~$55k, ~$75k respectively...

I wish the Q50 was a bit better than it is. Since my G35 was good to me, I am open to another infiniti.

G37/Q40.. I like the 2nd gen G's, but not going to pay ~$35k for a 7 year old design.

Q50.. it's so similar to the 2nd gen in the drive-train dept.. and looks is okay.. but man, I can't believe they are charging ~$45k for decently equipped model. It is a Nissan after all, lol..

I've decided that I need to go big or super economy for the next ride. Since I can't go "big" as in M3, S3.. I am considering these:

1. Honda HR-V
2. Mazda CX-3
3. Mazda CX-5
4. Mazda 3
5. Jeep Renegade.. i am pretty excited for this one: http://www.jeep.com/en/2015/renegade/

These will be $20k-$25k range for nicely equipped and I am just going to drive them..

I don't buy new cars, i prefer to get them 1-2 years old. I think sticker on my '06 was $43K and I bought it with 19K miles on it for $25K. So any "new" car I buy will be the same thing pretty much. Let someone drive them a couple years and save almost $20K. Works for me.

Anyway, I've test driven a few '12 and '13 G37x's and almost bought one. Only thing that stopped me is financial reasons...

No major issues with my '06, and every month I drive it is money in my pocket that I can invest, or save for a new car. Plus, most importantly....I actually still like my car. I know all it's quirks. I know it's been maintained well and fun to drive.

Low on my list of priorities. I'd like a new house, so i'd rather not have a car payment until i get that new mortgage set

The next Q60 will be unveiled next month in Detroit, in concept form that will be extremely close to the final production version. It will likely be available in a year.

I'm ...curious... too. But they better have an FI option for motors.

Here's my viewpoint so far:
- M4 - Nice car, but my friends that own them say that BMW service sucks!
- S5 - Nice car, yes. Good car, no. Based on FWD chassis. Almost worthless after warranty expires.
- C63 - Do I really want to be seen in a Mercedes? To be like the other goofs who just want to seen?
- RC-F - Hugely disappointing. Overweight, fugly grill, and costs more than the M4 to boot. OTOH it's a Lexus, which means excellent reliability. Did I mention overweight?
- Z51 - Best value, fastest, most fun to drive. By far. Worst dealership service imaginable. No back seat, not even a pretend one. Can't imagine driving it in snow. Middle-aged-white-guy-in-midlife-crisis image issue.
Carrera Turbo S - Yeah, in my dreams...

Still looking. Who would have thought that spending money was so difficult?

Patience everyone patience. The new Q coupe will be out soon. Then you can decide what your next car is. My 05 coupe will ALWAYS be owned by me, I'll just add a few more cars to my stable.
