Want to buy another G, which ones are the most reliable?

Hello everyone,

I bought my 2003 sedan as soon as it came out in 2002 and have been driving it ever since. Other than a few minor things that every G suffers from it has been a very reliable car.

I am currently at 250,000 miles and the engine and transmission are still running like new. However, I am slowly starting to look at other cars just in case I need to replace the G on a short notice in case it breaks down. I will continue to repair the G as long as it makes sense financially but at some point will need a new or newer car.

There are many that I like from a long list like: Honda Accord, Lexus GS, BWM 3, and especially the 2015 Mazda 6. However, even though the Mazda looks nice, it is very slow.. So another choice would be getting a G35 or G37 used....... The Honda Accords are not as reliable as they used to be any more.

My budget would be between $15,000 - $23,000.......

The one million dollar question is which year of the G seems to be the most reliable and I am referring mostly to mechanic things? I can deal with a few minor issues if the engine and transmission would give me many trouble free years like my current G35.

Any opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

There is a comparison here (have to search it up) between the different years of G's from 2002-2007 on the G35 and 2008+ on the g37. Makaresh or similar name is the name of the guy that reports them... All years are reliable on the automatic transmission models.

I say just get the G37. You already know the name holds the value and it's already reliable.

if i was to get a newer infiniti, id look into a g37 "ipl" trim edition. so hot smh. i think its the red seats that get me everytime, but you'd be looking to spend about 30g for one with low miles (20k or so miles )

Since you had good luck with 1st gen l would look for low mileage 2004-2006 G35 or G35x. One that has all the service records since new!

Personally I would say get a G37.
With another 35 you would be outdated considering the Q50s will now be the new face of Infiniti.

As far as reliability, everyone in my car group has 37s and they're all running very strong for them so far.

If you can find a G37 that is in immaculate shape with no accidents and complete maintenance history, that is your best bet. I can't say what the prices are as they will vary depending on mileage, but you can probably swing it with the upper end of your budget.

I still like the G35 coupes vs the G37, but that is purely preference only. Even if you can get a 06 Coupe 6MT with low miles and maintenance record I think its still worth it.

Good luck in your search.

I, personally, like the looks of the 04 G35 sedan. Clean lines. I still own mine. The main downside to me is the technology. My new vehicle has the additional features like hands free, automatic cruise control, camera, etc.

I like the layout of 1st gens better than new Infiniti. I had a 2013 G37 loaner. It was nice. I didnt like the cruise control and stereo buttons layout on steering wheel. I ran the G37 hard like l drove my 05X. The g37 has more poines than my 05X but not much more performance! I drove the roads like l do in myX. I felt my X was as good if not alittle better handling! Its awd vs rwd. The X cornered better under power! If the 37 was awd it would have been a even comparison! I love my 05X! The power seat layout is better on the 05X for sure! Newer doesnt mean better!
