And this threads gone. And telco, I don't want to argue with you over the Internet. But I DO believe that there's a difference between inexperienced an immature. An inexperienced driver can be mature and respect his car. It doesn't always have to do with age, but ones maturity in respecting what his/her car can do

Two Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Long Island
Car was going eastbound in westbound lane of Sunrise Highway in Brookhaven

http://www.wsj.com/articles/two-kill...and-1480290009

"An Infiniti traveling eastbound in the highwayÂ’s westbound lane in Brookhaven hit a Chevrolet van headed in the right direction around 4 a.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.

The Infiniti driver, Kevin Melgar, 23 years old, of Brentwood, died at the scene, officials said. The Chevrolet driver, who police identified as Ozcan Ayyildiz, 49, of Mastic Beach, died at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, officials said. "

I suppose the 23 yr old Infiniti driver was just having fun being out at 4 AM

Telcoman.
That literally has nothing to do with the car though. They could've been in a Mercedes or a jag and it still would have happened, it's not like the car was like "oh boy I'm an old infiniti, let's make these kids crash because of me"

I do understand what he means, kids don't need a car with that much horsepower when their learning to drive. It's too tempting to use it.

When I was 16 I had a whopping 49 hp to play with and I still got in trouble.

That was my point!
What were his parents thinking when they allowed this kid to purchase such a vehicle?
Glad he is off the road for good

Telcoman

When I was 16 I had a 275-300HP 5.0L Mustang. And guess what? I still have it. Didn't kill myself, and trust me I was very responsible with that car.

Anyway, back on topic. Anyway, call me old, but I tend to prefer the newer cars these days. I like the quiet cabins, and firm, but soft suspension, and all the modern advances. I've driven the new Q50 and a few of the last Q40's and didn't really see much of a difference outside of my requirements of commuting to/from work in traffic. Both were fun to drive and take on/off ramps with.

I've been away from G35's now for 7 months or so. I miss my car, but going to be frank here, I don't think I could own another one if I came across a very good deal unless it had practically 0 miles. It's just something about new cars that I prefer, which is ironic considering I have a 30 year old car in the garage.

"Better" is really relative here. What's better to you? What's better to me?

I'll be back in an Infiniti one day, but believe it or not, I'm really enjoying my new Taurus.

I'm from Long Island and know exactly where that accident occurred. It doesn't matter if that 23 year old was driving an Infiniti or Honda ricer, since the end result would have been the same. I had a friend who was instantly killed in an explosion on that same exact road in September (he had to be identified by DNA). A 24 year old off-duty police officer was drunk off his *** driving on the wrong side as well plowed into him.

No amount of regulations, control, or parenting is going to stop an adult from making a stupid choice.

FYI: I bought my G35 coupe brand new when I was 24 years old (35 now), shortly after I got out of the Military.

Don't worry, Telcoman will come back with "we need a law that all cars be self driving" or some crap like that.

I mean the G was my first car. Bought it a week after my 17th birthday. No accidents to date that were my fault. Again comes down to driver. Not car

I don't think anyone's arguing that new cars aren't good, or that they're bad. It's just their purpose has changed. When the G first came out it was a luxury sport vehicle that set itself apart, on par with the mustangs of its day. Luxury and performance. While a new Q60 is nice and fast, it doesn't really set itself apart from the competition as much, probably since there are many more performance oriented luxury cars on the road today.

Glad to hear you enjoy the Taurus though, great cars with a lot of room and a little bit of get up and go

The new Q50,i hate it. Wife hates it too. We both don't like that drive by wire thing, and the interior is just not that great. Love the exterior but inside we feel like it could be better. I know she hates changing the mode every time she starts the car. I know she likes the older G. Just not my G because she don't like driving a super low car, but has had a few loaners in the past.
