What is this? (Next to oil filter housing)

Trying to help a guy on the facebook page. His hangs loose and he's not sure what it is; me either.

Commonly broke when someone hits it with an oil filter wrench when trying to remove the filter. The plastic neck brakes after years of heat next to the engine.

I broke mine this same way.

When it hangs loose, the default is the low oil light stays off. So it's best to fix it ASAP so you know if you ever run low on oil.

IIRC wasn't too hard to change out. Did it during an oil change when filter was out of the way. Just needed a big wrench as I believe it's 1 1/8" or 21mm or something big like that
