So I want to order a plain black windshield banner, and an 18 inch VQNORTH banner. I'm wondering if I can apply the black banner to the windshield and put the smaller banner ontop and use it as a template to cut out the VQNORTH logo into the black banner. Basically I want to do my own DIY like this picture with a razor blade. Will it work or will it just ruin both banners?

 

Could you make that work, maybe. Personally would talk to a vinyl shop about what you're trying to do and get the banner cut clean by laser robots or whatever sorcery they use. I wouldn't think it would break the bank. Or just salvage some of their scrap vinyl and try layering and cutting letters before you order any real material. I bought a ton of vinyl off-cuts for a few bucks at my local shop for some projects...some of it would actually work for this type of banner

 

I've also never tried cutting by hand. Maybe try your hand on some scrap pieces to see how it looks?

 

You can definitely do this... But getting one laser cut is probably easier and similarly priced including your time and assuming you go through a couple of banners before you get one that comes out okay.
