Need more horses help
Hey guys so I got my 04 g35 about a month ago (first car!)
and today I raced a bmw i525, at first he was ahead of me but then I ended up catching up and passing him. (Although not sure it’s bc he couldn’t keep up or Bc he slowed down). ANYWAYS, I refuse to take the loss and want to make my car faster BUT since I am fresh outta high school I kinda have a tight budget so the grand question is...... what do I do to get more hp on a budget? Oh btw I ****ed up my rotors I think Bc when I braked I smelled a smelly smell in the air and my rotors had like a yellow rainbowish color on them (not sure if they’re turning gay)

i525 has 218 hp. You have 280 hp. Take your backseats and spare tire out. Do your preventative maintenance first. Id get good coilovers first. 2005 revup airbox, z tube, plenum spacer, and tune. All depends on your budget. If my first car was a g35, it would have been wrecked...

Take it easy with the racing.
The most cheapest way to get power on this car is nitrous. Besides that, either turbo or supercharge. But those arent cheap.
Nothing else is gonna give u any significant power.

Racing on public roads in some states could result in losing your license, greatly increase your insurance, and if you cause an accident, injure or kill someone could result in jail time.
My advice to you is to find ways to derive entertainment from the Gs handling at lower, safer speeds, such as drift, autocross, or just cruising on curvier roads.
One time on curvy Mexican highways (think Wangan midnight) I was cruising with an SRT8 charger, in the straights he would blow by me but by the time the next sweeper came around I'd pass him like he was standing still, before the road straightened again lol. Both of us topped our cars out that day, and I got that out of my system.
The G is still quick for a daily (read BMW 525i...) but against real performance cars you'll need to dump $10k+ into the motor to have any real chance of keeping up....
Be careful with the high speed racing.... One mistake and your life could easily be ruined, the G isn't a liter bike if you know what I mean, and also I would not feel safe trying to top out a 15 year old G with worn OEM suspension and unknown history tires.

Nos system runs about $650 and a shift kit is $200. That is the cheapest way to make a G35 fast. Rear mount turbo setup will get you more WHP all the time but will set you back 6k unless you have fab and tuning skills. I wouldn't push a stock (even shift kitted) auto past 350whp unless you are planning to get a built tranny.
