Hi, i was driving home one day in a prety bad storm and my 05 g35 and i went in a prety deep puddle and it stalled out my car, would not start again so i took it to the dealership and they told me that it is not worth fixing.

I would like to get something tun to take me to work should i get a new motor and put it in the car or should i scrap the car, or should i part it our (my insurance doesn't cover it) what should the next step for me be?

 

Pull the spark plugs and see if they're wet, in order to hydrolock the engine you need to ingest water and that would mean it was up to the top of the hood.

 

It's definitely possible to suck water but it's got to be one HELL OF A PUDDLE to do that on this car since it sucks air from the front right where the grill meets the hood.

EDIT: Unless you have an aftermarket intake and aren't using the lower engine cover for some reason, in that case it's pretty easy to suck water.

 

I do have an aftermarket CAI that goes down to the middle of the drivers side wheel,



Usually how much does it cost to buy and get a new engine installed

 

Depends, is yours a 6MT or a 5AT, they came with different motors.
