someone I know is an AMSOil dealer and sells it for about $5.00 a quart when you buy it by the case (12 quarts). Let me know if you want his info.

Question

I want to change the oil myself next time. Still not too sure which brand to use...

Mobil 5-30w seems to be the favorite here so should I use that?

I live in Las Vegas, hot summers, chilly winters and dry climate.

I personally use Amsoil 10w-30 with there oil filter. Its recomended to use regualar oil for expample Castrol to break in your engine then switch to synthetic.
Here a list of synt oils do the research and decide which is best for u.

Synthetic refers to the way the base stock oil in a modern motor oil is produced. Modern oils have a base stock and another added amount of polymer infused oil to enable the oil two flow like two differnt viscosity oils, one for low starting temperatures and another for higher engine operating temps. Traditionally, an oil is classified as synthetic when is is created in a lab using a process called synthesis. Naturally occuring petroleum oils have sulfurs and carbons that cannot fully be removed in the refining process. These sulfurs and carbons can build up on valves and cylinder walls, thus synthetic oils wouldn't have this worry. No modern oils are 100% synthetic because the polymer infued oil is part petroleum oil. Fully synthetic would mean the base stock oil is 100% synthetic. A number of companies, such as Castrol and Pennzoil have "twisted" the way they define their oil properties to make them seem higher quality, and rip you outta more money. Castrol began using Shell oils in '98 for their base stock. The oil they use undergoes more than the "typical" oil goes throught in its processing. The extra processing is what they consider making a synthetic oil even though it is indeed petroleum based.
Synthetics basically are a cleaner maintenance and cleaner flowing oil. Not to say the Syntec you just bought is a bad oil, it just doesn't really reap the benefits of a fully sythetic such as Amsoil, Mobil-1, Royal Purple, or Synlube.

Personally I just filled up with Redline 5w-30 oil even though it runs $8.00 a quart. To justify that cost I am running it for 7500 miles with an Amsoil Eao oil filter. Just about any good quality dino oil will do well for 3750 mile/3 month interval on average driving conditions. As for oil filters, the factory filter is not that well made and stay away from anything that has FRAM stamped on it and you should be alright.

Here's a pic of the stock oil filter:
