Taking your car to a different dealership for service?

The dealership I bought my car at it about 40 minutes away, but there is an Infiniti dealer about 5 minutes away from my house. If your car needs service, do you have to take it to the dealership from which you bought it, or can you take it to another dealership and have them service it?

You can take it to any dealership. How does the dealership know that you didn't just move? Why should they care? They get paid for servicing you.

I have just heard that if you didn't buy it from that particular dealership, then you're not a priority. I have no idea how they get paid.

you probably have a much better chance of getting a loaner if you go to the dealer you bought your car from.

Who needs a loaner when you have friends? Go to the closer dealership and assert your dominance...er, no...I mean create a relationship with the service department that effectively gets your needs met.

I have my car serviced at a dealership I didn't buy my car from. No problems with service or getting a loaner.

The dealership I purchased my car from is about 20 minutes away. The one I goto for service is about 90 minutes away. The trip is well worth it. They are very mod friendly and treat the car great. Just go where you are most happy with the service.
