Coupe vs Sedan

I have this buddy at work that has a 2003 G35 sedan with mid pipe and intake, and I have an 2004 G35c with just CAI. He is claiming that his car will 'smoke' mine. I'm telling him that it would be a drivers race and that our cars are pretty much similar. I could be very wrong, but does anyone have any experience with a coupe vs a sedan. Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello there. I have owned a 03 sedan for almost a year. Just sold the sedan and picked up an 03 coupe about a month ago. I have to say, I think the sedan was quicker. It feels lighter and was more nimble. My coupe has a much tighter ride, but just feels heavier and slower. But I didn't make the switch for performance, I just love the way the coupe looks, it's a beautiful machine.

Yes I totally agree with you on the looks dept. I love the way the coupe looks comapred to the sedan (not taking anything away from the sedan). But could you go as far as to say that the sedan would 'smoke' a coupe?

I wouldn't say the sedan would "smoke" a coupe. I think it would be a close race. They are probably the same performance wise, maybe the difference for me is psychological because the sedan is lighter.

Well there is a horsepower difference, but not much, and weight difference isn't much also, i think the coupe would win honestly, but all depends on launch and everything. Drivers race.

I do and that's why I started the thread. It's just some friendly competition between some buddies. I don't do much racing and it sparked interest, if in fact one is faster. Did your mother ever teach you "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all." Thanks for nothing.

Yes . . . And as such, I regret having wasted my time. I apologize for upsetting your slumber party.

Well, that and the abuse.

Seriously, short of FI, from a dig it's a drivers race. Be careful and take it to the track. You will be surprised how much fun you'll have.
