I wish I had a daily beater to drive instead of the G... it's rather scary leaving it parked in some random place when doing something...

^^ GOOD POINT....it is meant to be driven so DRIVE IT...I have 2100 miles on my G after 2 months and I would have more miles if I wasnt always at school which is like 3 miles from my place..lol The g is so fun to drive...of course you will worry about getting it hit, but whatever DRIVE IT

I like the way you think. When I'm having a bad day at work, I sneak out at lunch to light up my tires! I come back smiling and ready to go. I'm even looking forward to getting new tires!

Car depreciate in value regardless of mileages, maybe lower mileages help a little bit with value, but not much.

I say enjoy while it lasts. life is short, if you can afford the car, why not have fun with it, before you realize your old, and gonna die soon. LOL

My car

I bought my 05 6MT back in the end of April. I have about 6500 miles on it. I recieved the car with damage to the bumper so it was "scratched" since day one. After having it for about 3 weeks someone tried to steal it and crowbard the drivers door all to hell. Over the summer my upstairs' neighbors kid rode is bike into the wheel well and left a small but noticeable scratch on the rear passengers side wheel well. Then about a week after that (sometime in august) I was backing up in a dark resturant parking lot and apparently the landscaper left a large rock in the parking lot. I backed up onto it and as I pulled away it rolled (cam shaped rock) and tore the passengar side of the rear bumper off the hangers. So needless to say I have consistently broke the cherry on my G. I will continue to drive this car, cursed as it may be. When I'm done with it, I will go out and get another one, and another one, and so on... Its only a car. The bumper was $850 to replace and paint.

Burn rubber not your soul..... or something.

Im always worried about scratching it or messing it up. Everytime i go out i always think if i should take the G out or if its just better to take the beater out. I dont know what the point of this thread is but a car is meant to be driven and thats exactly what i plan to do from now on.
I feel the same way i have 06 g35c 6mt for a month now i only got 300miles i live in queens. "I always seem to find reasons not to drive the G. Oh, theres not gonna be any parking. Yep, I'm another that can relate to your plight. My G has been in the family for 18 months (stored for 5 of those) and has only 8100 miles on it. It's easy not to drive it when there is another vehicle around. I dont' like driving it unless it looks perfect and that's hard to do when with the weather we have.

Good luck with your resolve to drive it more. I need to walk that talk too since that is really what we bought them for.

Exactly. Mine is my daily driver and I have 23k since 1/1/05. I've loved every mile. The occasional rock chip STILL drives me nuts. I have pulled out the PC twice already to keep it as beautiful as ever. So far so good. Enjoy the car already!

So true...the year over year depreciation will be greater than any added value from low miles.

When I was looking to buy a car 3 months ago I found a really nice '02 BMW 330i with new 18s, clean, and only 14K miles. Problem was the idiot owner wanted a major premium for the low mileage He wanted $30K, I offered $26K and was told my offer was insulting. Oh well, it's still a 4 year old car. I of course walked from the deal...

At that point I gave up on trying to buy a BMW and bought a new '05 G35 Coupe....that was on 9/30/05. I now have 2500 miles on it and it's been great...I even got the clear bra, tinted window, & clear corners. I changed the factory oil out at 1200 miles and will do the next oil change at 3750.

As everyone else said, if you let the car sit in the garage all_the_time, you're basically wasting the money you spent b/c the low mileage won't/can't offset the year over year depreciation. So you're basically 'saving the car' for the next guy. I'm expecting to put 15K miles/year on my G....how long I keep it depends on the long term reliability.

i rarely drive my car as well... well the first month i had it i put on about 300o miles but since then i've been driving my nissan.
took my car out last weekend. I parked it and when i came back to my car a few hours later i found a light scratch. i can probably buff it out. but still, a single tear drop fell down my cheek
