Thumbs up So just a little G Snowmobile report...

NY got 6 inches of snow on the ground last night, with side streets being a sheet of ice. My G handled very well. I never got stuck and through the snow on unplowed roads it was cake. You have to drive smart, nice idle starts to get the car going, low rpms, etc. VDC makes it even better in the snow. I feel very comfortable driving this car in the snow & ice.

My setup…

2005 G35 Coupe 6mt

Winter Setup

2005 350z base rims 17”
Dunlop Winter Sport M3
Fronts 215/55 R17
Rears 225/55 R17

And I have no weight in the trunk; I’ll probably throw something in there though.

hey we had snow down here in south jersey aswell. and i got my own story to tell. was going out to pick up some takeout rite, back road i was taken was covered in sheets of ice and i drove pretty decent and respectable and obeyed the limit. 25 speed i was doing, and i decided to do a test on the traction and brake of my 05x. i dint turn on the x cuz i now i would not let me test out what i wanted so i left it off.

i drove about 25 speed and stepped on the brakes. i skid for like 12 seconds. i was alone so dont say im careless and foolish. ok, then i did a second test, drove 25 speed and stepped on the brakes, but this time as i skid the first 5 seconds i switch to REVERSE, and i stepped on the gas abit. unbeleiably it worked like i predicted. i almost stopped moving forward and start going backward a bit. i was very suprise. i think this move would come in handle one day on the speedy road. some might find it lame but i thought i share. i enjoyed those runs.

Glad to hear your G handled well but I higly don't recomend going from Drive to reverse while the cars moving, that will KILL your trans, and even more so if a wheel hits pavment and grabs traction.

I think he meant his wheels locked up, and he was sliding.

it wasnt going from drive to reverse. I was skidding while holding down the brake and shifting to reverse still holding down the brakes. its the same as regular shifting. you have to step on brakes to shift to reverse or to drive. i was doing the exact same thing but only i was skidding at the same time.

maybe im wrong, if some1 expert tells me it hurts my BAABY then ima kick myself and vow never to do it ever again.

Man, I have no snow setup. Went to nyc to party up on saturday night, no idea we were getting snow. Coming home, LIE was perfect until I hit exit 30ish, but still ok. I split off to take Northern State, oh my f-in god, unplowed streets with 2 inches on the ground.

Barely any tracks for me to follow from other cars. I put on the hazards and drove 25mph all the way home to exit 41. I saw another G fly by me with a snow setup, undoubtedly laughing at me.

I almost fishtailed twice, but kept it under control. I took my exit, and prayed to god that no one was coming because if I stopped, without any momentum my car would have been stuck right where I stopped, but luckily the momentum + no cars + caught every green light without stopping got me home safe.

Lucky me.
