Question Any one order a car?

I ordered my car a few weeks ago. The dealer can only send in info the first week of every month. So my car was officially ordered 2/3/06. I was told 90 days by assistant manager and 12 weeks by manager. The difference is only 6 days. But I have heard of people waiting up to 4 months. Anyone order and how long did it take?

G35 coupe 6mt black on black orded because i wanted no sunroof.

I ordered in january. The dealer sent the order to the factory on febuary 3. I was told 90 days but my dealer said it might be a couple weeks less. I was suprised that it might be less. I am in Iowa and the boat docks on the west coast and then it has to get trucked here.

I am very excited!!

Ordered: 2006 Infiniti G35x, Ivory Pearl/Wheat, Premium C, Sat Nav and Siruis sat radio (yay shark fin!), 17" Chrome factory rims (expensive as hell but I love em), slash gaurds, spoiler, 3m clearbra and aluminum sport pedals (some items are dealer installed, but i put all that on the purchase agreement)

WHEEEEEEEEEE!

I ordered because, like dothemath, I wanted a hardtop IP/Stone ('05 6MT).

My order went in on the cut-off date for ordering '05s. I was also told up to 90 days, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived on Day 59. Might not be as long as they say... ...but even if so, you'll be happy you waited for what you want. Besides, it gives you time to accumulate some mods. The MREV and the Crawford cats are just about the only items (from those listed in my sig) that I ordered after taking delivery.

good luck with the order...
I odered my '05 in dec 17 04 and it arrived on 3/4/05. I wanted factory options like the spoiler installed there vs the dealer. I hate the third brake light in the back deck due to window tinting. So i know about the waiting thing. Just try to forget about it and when it gets close, asked again. When the vin # is assigned to you, thats when you can track it and get a realistic date.
hope this helps

Ordered my 2004 coupe in late October 2003. The orders only go in at the end of the first week of each month (according to the sales manager) so mine was technically ordered ~Nov 5, 2003. I took delivery January 21, 2004 after much waited anxiety.

I did get my VIN number in early January which means it's close. Your dealer/salesperson should be able to tell you when you get your VIN #.

Ordered an 05' in October 04'. Picked it up on Ground Hog Day (Feb) of 05'.

And, YES, it was worth the wait!

I ordered mine on Nov. 4th 2005, was at the dealership January 28th ready to pick up. I have read that some have received their custom order in 75 days, but mine was a little over 90 days.

This was in the Los Angeles area by the way.

I called few dealers and finally found someone that had it and a week later I was driving the exact car that I wanted. Why wouldn't you just shop around a little instead of waiting for 3 months???

another reason i ordered.

waiting is a good thing when it is winter now, and thus i got a better deal. Plus summer only tires in new england winters do not mix. this way I have spring summer and fall to find a good winter tire package.

I'm assuming this would be most people's first step before ordering and so it's assumed that someone is thinking of ordering because they can't locate the combo they want. It was first step and not a single one ('05 6MT IP/Stone, no sunroof, no Prem., no Nav.) could be located. 6MTs were scarce at that time anyway and all had Prem. and sunroof. Plenty of 5ATs with sunroofs and Prem were around at that time as well.

I am fairly sure the combo I ordered is more rare but I didnt check. I live in Iowa and there is only one dealer in Iowa. I didnt want one that had been sitting on a lot somewhere getting washed improperly a hundred times and I didnt want one that had ever been test driven. I want it to be as fresh as possible. I have a list for my dealership that says not to drill the front bumper, not to put dealer stickers on it, etc. I am being picky.

Those are some other very valid reasons too, IMO. I've ordered two cars in my lifetime so far (Obviously, the G being one) and it was really nice taking delivery of them and both of them had only 13 miles on the odometer.
