Question Pls endure these newbie questions...

Hello all,

Kudos to the G35Driver.com admins on maintaining a nice site!

I'm very interested in acquiring an '03 or '04 Sedan but stuck a number of questions which are delaying my forward movement on the purchase. I'm in the Southern Ontario area, just north of the Niagara Falls, New York border... what does all this mean...? Sedans are at a reasonable market value & Coupes are overvalued due to scarcity. Yep, so I guess I'm going after a Sedan.

Here is the information that I'm looking for:
  • Which packages included what options for '03-'04? Edmunds gave me an idea of what Premium has but is it OK to assume that Nav has everything Premium has + the Nav system? What about the Sport or Aero... are there combinations?
  • Is the Aero pkg much more than a spoiler?
  • Are there reliability issues with either the M6 or auto trannys?
  • When I test drove an M6 it was a little stiff on the shift/throw & there was an odd vibration/noise from the shifter area under hard acceleration in 2nd gear... normal? Is this a sign of fatigue?
  • Are there any key wear or flaws to look for when trying to locate an older G in decent shape?
  • Do all sedans come with power sun roof? Everyone I've seen does but not sure if this is just fluke.
  • I've heard comments about premature wear on the Brembo brake setups, true? Can you even get Brembos on the sedan?
  • Pls don't laugh too hard at this one... has anyone tried mounting a tow hitch setup to their car yet? I have a small, light open bed trailer I use to take a couple of sport bikes out to track days on... 2 bikes & trailer... about 1,400lbs max with about a 80-90lbs tongue weight (well balanced trailer)
If there is some sort of all-in starter/newbie post addressing all of this, my apologies... please point me in that direction for the self service aisle.

I'm hoping that this information will help direct me towards the right model in the coming weeks. Thanks for your help & direction in advance!

Cheers!

Wow... questions were that bad?

I should clarify that I have been searching the prior posts with little success for the specifics.

Well, I have a coupe, but I think I can answer a couple of them...

In order to get the Navigation System, you must get the Premium package. So yes, any car with Nav has the Premium package.

There are a few people who have a hitch on the car. I'm pretty sure you are not supposed to tow more than 1000 lbs. You can download the Owner's Manual from Infiniti.com and check it out.

Depends.. the AeroPackage itself doesnt include the spoiler.. its all the under body diffusers.. the spoiler is an addon to the Aero Package

Some of us who drive our cars like we're insane people and power shift all the time are finding ourselves grinding certain gears. AznTeazer grinding something.. i had a 6th gear problem.. i believe dru has a 5th gear.. just some examples.. but if your normal it seems pretty reliable lol
  • When I test drove an M6 it was a little stiff on the shift/throw & there was an odd vibration/noise from the shifter area under hard acceleration in 2nd gear... normal? Is this a sign of fatigue?
our stock shifter vibrates alot.. thats just how it was designed.. to give the driver i better feel of the car.. it also feels like it came outta gear if you let off the gas (you're stilli n gear tho)
  • Are there any key wear or flaws to look for when trying to locate an older G in decent shape?
    eh..
  • Do all sedans come with power sun roof? Everyone I've seen does but not sure if this is just fluke.
the prem package includes a sunroof.. which is like 95% of the Gs out there
  • I've heard comments about premature wear on the Brembo brake setups, true? Can you even get Brembos on the sedan?
no stock brembos on sedan.. and yes our brakes tend to wear quite fast

good luck with that.. a couple of guys had a bike rack mounted in the back..

Gentlemen, thank you very much for the input!

Dave: Thanks for clarifying the Prem pkg thing. I try to get a manual downloaded for reference on the hitch today.

Klumzyee: That is much of the insight I was looking for! Thanks! Sounds like the Brembos are a real 'mixed blessing' when it comes to street use. With the Brembo name attached, is the mean the cost of repair/replacement is unusually high? BTW Klumzyee... does that rabbit have a pancake on it's head?!?

Cheers!
