WTF!!! Infiniti Elite Extended Warrenty
Here is the story. I purchased my G coupe back in march of 2003. I have been very happy with the car, except for a few minor service issues, so I have decided to keep it.Besides it only has 21,0000 miles on the odometer. I recieved a letter from my dealer in January fo this year about specials on Infinitis Elite extended warrenty program. So I called the sales manager and purchased a Infiniti Elite 3 years 36,000 mile warrenty to extend the standard 4 year 60,0000 mile warrenty. This all cost me about $1100. I recieved the Infiniti service agreement today which states my warrenty now ends january 2009 or 57,000 miles, which ever comes first . I called the sales manager and am told that the extended warrenty starts the day you purchase it and is not added onto the end of you standard warrenty. So basically it looks like I paid $1100 for 3k less miles or 22 months more service . What is I had bought the warrenty when the car was new, my 4 years 60,000 mile warrenty would have been reduced to 3 years 36,000 miles .Im i just incredibly stupid, wait dont answer that, or am I getting ripped.

Sounds about right. Think a little... you're averaging 7K miles a year, so your warranty would expire March 2007 with approx 28,000 miles on the odometer. The extended warranty expires Jan 2009 or 57,000 miles, do the math... for your $$$, you get 2 more years and approx 29,000 more miles. It might have been better if you had waited another year to purchase... but typically extended warranties are more expensive when there's higher mileage on the car.

i bought an extended warranty on a chevy i once owned and they added the extension onto the manufacturers warranty. it basically added on 2 years and the additional mileage was put on whatever i had at the end of the manufacturers warranty. sounds like they just threw on there coverage to whatever u had at this moment. that's the dumbest thing i ever heard. why would u overlap one warranty over the other? sounds like a nice scam they got going on there. hmmm... i hope i read your post right, i'm assuming u still have some manufacturer warranty left over.

I know it is not for everyone's budget and requires a strong will. I learn from years of getting ripped off by insurance companies, I no longer purchase extended warranty on cars. Instead, I find out what the premium of the extended warranty is, then put the same amount in a money market account (which usually has a higher yield than a passbook savings). I let the money sits there to collect interests. If I need to use the money, it is there. And if I never have to use it, the money will roll to the next car. It takes the initial "investment", and it is pretty brainless once you have it set up. Even after paying Uncle Sam on the earned interests, I still come out ahead. And the feeling is priceless knowing I am not making an insurance company richer.

Well I called Infiniti customer service and they confirmed all Infiniti extended warrenties purchased after you purchase your car start from the day you purchase the warrenty. So, I in effect paid $1100 to decrease the milage on my warrenty by 3000 miles and only recieve 20 months more service which ever comes first.Thankfully I have 60 Days to cancel the extended warrenty. Hope this help someone else not get ripped

It's always a good idea to save money and let it make interest when possible, but sometimes you just gotta spend, imo. Just my $0.02 worth.
