Service Pricing.Dealership or Staelership

Does this sound right....in for 30k service.

did most myself, wipers, air filters, oil etc..

I did need new front brakes, and I knew that, So I picked up a set of Hawks.

Took it to the dealer to have the hawk pads put on, an alaignment done, tires balanced as I just got new Proxes 4 about 6 months ago and don't want the same fethering that occured on the originals. Anyway, They looked at the rotors and determined I needed new ones. So for the rotors and labor above, the total is $494.00 Doesn't that seem high or is that about right?

Your rotors need replacing at 30k? Are our rotors that crappy? Shoot...I was going 100k miles on my original rotors with my Accord. I'd def get a second opinion on the rotor replacing because I know they shouldn't wear out that fast. If this was a BMW, it'd be different because they require you to change them with every brake pad replacement. Rotors will probably run you $150 per set (x2). Alignment usually around $80, depending on dealership, Tire balancing $20 if you didn't buy them from them. I think it sounds about right coming from the dealer but definitely second opinion on the rotors.

FYI this is the second set of rotors in 30k!

I had to have the pads and rotors replaced under warranty at 15k! They would still be under warranty but I lapsed the 36 month limit. The service advisor said that the pads wear out on these between 12-18k. depending on driving. That's why I got the better Hawk pads this time.

in 33,000+ miles I have had the front pads replaced 3x and the rears once.
They turned the first set of rotors and gave me a new set of rotors last week
my brake warranty expires in 3000 miles 36K dealer has been excellent about the brakes..... my only problem has been a noisy window regulator having the 2nd one installed this week..... anybody else have window issues?

The rotors and brakes on my 04 6MT 18" Wheels, with the brembos need to be replaced at 24k miles as per the dealer since my brakes were making loud noises. But the dealer didn't say anything about warranty and wanted to charge me close to 2Gs. Are you all getting your brakes done through the dealer through warranty? Or, is this just for non-brembo brake systems?

Do you have to have your 30k checkup done to keep your warrenty valid? What happens if you skip the checkup and just do the maintenance yourself? I actually purchased the 6year/100k extended warrenty because I drive a lot of miles. I don't want to void the warrenty by missing a checkup, yet it sounds rather silly that you would be forced to have one done at the dealership if you didn't want to.

When I took my car in for pads a few weeks ago, I told them not to replace the rotors because I would upgrade to drilled/slotted if I needed them. When I went to pickup my car, they stated they changed my rotors. I refused to pay for them and they were mysteriously able to turn my old rotors. I haven't had any problems...well except for those mentioned in another thread, but that's another story.
