350Z vs. G35 ?

I'm in the market for a new car that I plan to get sometime within the next few months. After only a few nights of research I thought that the G35 was the right car for me.

After digging a bit more I saw how the 'G' and 'Z' were so closely related. So then I started to doubt myself... The Z, imo, has a better style, it's cheaper, and it has a bit more HP than the G and these facts put me somewhere around 'the drawing board'.

Now I still think one of these two cars is the car for me but now I'm on the fence over which one... Quality is important to me so I'm instinctivly attracted to the G but everything else in me wants the Z.

Im still, however, actively looking for other cars that might be of intrest. The CTS, BMW 3series and the eclipse are other cars I'm looking into. Also, If anyone has suggestions feel free to share them.

If you like the looks of the Z better than the G, and you don't mind not having a back seat, I'd say go with the Z. If you want a little more luxury, go with the G. I think they are both fun cars and you can't go wrong with either, and the performance is very similar between the two. If you want a fun car, I would also consider a Subaru WRX Sti or a Mitsubishi Evo. These are both awesome cars, quicker than a Z or G and about the same price. The Honda S2000 is also a great car at about the same price, with 2 seats only. Other cars I would look at are the Lexus IS350 (but only comes in auto tranny), a BMW 330 (but more $$, less power). If you want a Benz, the C-class is in the price range. In my opinion, the CTS is ugly and I'm not a Caddy fan (but the V cars are cool). I wouldn't even bother looking at the new Eclipse. That thing is a FWD piece of crap, and I wouldn't even consider it with the group of cars I mentioned. Good luck, and make sure you take your time to be sure you get the right car.

Z= faster, lighter, cheaper, inside is cheaper.
G= grown up, more expensive, handles as well as the Z, more stylish IMO, slower only at highway speeds.

I can't imagine someone on the forum decides for u which one to get. Im pretty sure u know all the facts about both cars. Now it all depends what u want.

Sounds to me you should get the Z. However, the G has a longer warranty and free loaners.

I was pretty much in the same position as you when I was deciding on purchasing a new car. I was looking at either the Z, the G, S2000, or WRX Sti. I pretty much narrowed it down to those 4 cars.

What made me choose the G was the more luxurious look. Plus I didn't like the idea of having a 2 seater. So that took out the S2k, and the Z. Plus I'm 27, and the idea of having a STI at an older age didn't seem to fit me IMO. If your looking for just speed, I wouldn't choose the G. Go with either the STI or EVO. IMO, the G has a much more classier look than any of the cars I just mentioned.

Well...just my 2 cents. Good luck!

S2000 owner

I currently own an s2000 and have had it for almost 4 years and love it, but now I am cramped. I have been contemplating an STI, a G35 coupe, a 350Z, a 330ci. Ultimately, I will buy the G (in June and counting the days) as it is better looking than the 350Z and has back seats, for what they are worth. Drove the STI, it was fast as hell, but I want more out of my interior than that. Drive em all and pick the one that appeals to you the most.

I'll prolly get flamed for this but here it goes:

STI and EVO: great cars at a great price. On the bottom in terms or luxury. Kids car in my opinion. I wouldnt want to pull up to a nice restaurant in it.

S2000: great car, little underpowered but car is made more for handling. One of the best handling small cars that I know of next to the Miata.

350z: kids version of the G35

G35: the adult model

I wouldn't mind having a 350Z Roadster to pair up with my Sedan. Gotta save some cash for a house though.
