Need help making purchase decision :)

So my father is looking to get a new car....probably within the next few months. For the longest time, I have tried (without sucess) to convince him to buy a G. He's approaching 50 years old, is a doctor, and doesn't drive a great deal but certainly appreciates a nice vehicle.

So far, we have been looking at/test-driven:

IS350, GS300, G35 (sedan&coupe) , TL

German cars are out of the question- reliability is a important factor, but I would imagine among these paticular models, the reliability would all be respectable.

Now, the dillema: The IS and GS are both new models, have a certain number of features that the G does not, and are of course, more expensive. The G(sedan) is nicely sized, fast, and a great value. The Coupe looks fantastic, but apparently the ride is slightly too taunt for my father. The IS is nice, but on the tighter side in terms of interior space. The GS is a decent size....but not quite atheletic. I also favor the styling of the IS and the G by a long shot. We have yet to test drie the TL, though I personally don't find it very classy with the plasticky door sill moldings.

Money isn't really a problem (my father buys cars lump-sum) but why spend more for something that might not even bring as much satisfaction?

I have been looking into the 07 G35, which basically mimicks the IS350 in terms of features, and will boast a 310hp motor. Furthermore, it has a very nice interior as compared to the current model and is slightly enhanced aesthetically. Some of the newer features include: Bluetooth, paddle shifters, seat ventallation, three-way front speakers/built in hard drive, intelligent key and push button start, etc.

Fuel mileage isn't really a concern, but decent economy is an added bonus.
I wouldn't call my father a lead-foot, but he does appreciate the feeling of power.

So would it be worth it to wait for the 07 G35 (November), or to buy a 06 model (highly discounted)? And then there's the Lexus factor....the premium luxury marque prestige they hold.

If you have any suggestions or tips, they would be much appreciated.
