My Test Drive- BMW 335i

Well in the beginning of 07- about August I was set on keeping my 05 Coupe...then at some point from there I decided not to and was looking into the G37...I then went to a couple of Infiniti dealers where they showed no love to a past Infiniti owner who was looking to pull three cars off their lot in exchange for three lease vehicles that are due back in March 08..With that being said there has been really no incentive for me to Infiniti anymore...any dealer that turns down returning three leases and taking three new cars off the lot really just isnt worth my time or money...

So yesterday I ventured off to Hassel BMW for a test drive..335i coupe. I've always disliked bmw mainly cuz the interior asthetics are no where near par in comparison to japanese luxury brands..

The testdrive:

My salesman was real chill and basically told me we're not going around the block..A 20 minute test drive which included a highway run, braking test, 0-60..floor it and see what you get..hit the brakes and let go of the steering wheel...yea all of that.

After that Im truly amazed at this car and I have a whole new level of respect for bmw..I'll say at 110+, the car is begging for more, no lag and sits like its glued to the road..When braking at high speeds, no vibrating or any uncertainty.

I mean sure the dashboard looks like from the 80's but this biotch performs and handles. I read a couple of reviews and its 0-60 and quarter are very very close to the e46 M3..

Currently I'm working on getting the pricing I want for this car which would be a montego blue..fully equipped 335i coupe, black leather , and steptronic automatic..
The only thing that would put me in a G37 at this point would be a ridiculously good lease price which I have yet to be offered...for a three time infiniti owner..

Exterior Looks:

I've been forcing myself to really like this G37 and I've come to terms with liking it alot more than I did initially..I think modded, its gonna look sick but its not the g35 coupe and we definitely can't get that twisted.

I look at the bmw 335i and I love the way it looks..I mean its not as uniquely shaped as the g37 but at the end of the day I really like the way it looks without having to force myself to like it...

Service:

BMW
FREE SERVICE FOR 4/50K...brakes, hoses, belts...everything except tires and rims..big selling point for me to. 12k oil changes so my car doesn't have to be at the dealer that often..

Conclusion:

At the end of the day until March comes, Im not sure what I'm getting..If Infiniti throws me a price that will knock me off my chair..then I may consider the g37 again. However, if BMW throws me the price I want...I'm not looking back and I'm starting the build on my car asap.

From an asthetics perspective, the g37 wins hands down..but IMO all it takes is one test drive in the 335i and that will become a lil less important to you..
I dunno we'll see what happens.

still workin on something call me vince. also, Infiniti has a full maintainence program that has been working out with the #'s to compete better than the BMW maintainence.

The 335i is a great car no doubt. A bit too understated IMHO.

You really think Japanese interiors are better than German ones? Can't agree with you on that one, in my experience the BMW interior refinement is above and beyond any japanese car

yea I think the M3 is gonna be priced to aggressively for me man..I mean a loaded 335i is comin out a lil over 50k..so maybe that'll be my next progression..

Madchef:

I do think the japanese interiors feel/look better than the german interiors..however the BMW interior is not as bad as I thought it would be..I guess it would just take some getting used to.

Kenny:

I'll give u a call this week.

Hey Vinny, if your willing to come to Long Island, to Rallye BMW, i know the manager over there. If i tell him your coming to see him, he will do a GREATY price by you. I just priced one out, and ill tell you, over at BMW forums, people are AMAZED at the price i got. Cant make promises, but its worth a shot to save you some money. I test drove one myself, 4 door though, and even that MOVED! Let me know...

i find infiniti and lexus are far from the interior quality of mercedes, bmw, audi and even VW. in some cases the materials are better, but the build quality is horrible. look at a daily driven 03 g35 compared to a daily driven 03 german car. youll see the difference.

I drove my friend's 335i out for lunch the other day.... no joke. Crazy fast... although I'm not a fan of the interior at all.

Test drive the Audi S5... lol Year around fun... quattro, and the sound of a V8.

I've seen a few G37's on the road... but it still doesn't have the same impact as when I "first" saw the G35 back in 2002.

Whats up Jay.. yea I wanted to go check out the Audi S5 but lease prices are ridiculous on that car...V8 would be very nice. Thats pretty cool that you thought the 335 was fast considering that beast that you drive..

The G37 is still an option if I have to but I'd like to go with the 335i.

I TOLD YOU SO VIN!

I remember talking to you and couple of people on the cruise we went on last. You guys were like "Nahhhhhh"... I told you it was a bad car.

Their lease prices are NOTHING compared to Infiniti though. Comparitively priced your paying almost $40 more a month.

Check out e90post. Alot of people have posted their payments.

$40 a month??? I've been getting some pretty ****ty pricing then because I've been getting quoted like $80+ a month on a fully loaded joint..

And yes you can go right ahead with the I told you so's cuz your absolutely right...

Its crazy after getting pricing at BMW every salesman just looks at you and says...what do you expect its a bmw...like its best friggin car ever made. I mean BMW sales has definitely gotten a whole lot better from what I remember it to be but they definitely still got a lil of that snob factor..
