5AT Transmission Service
I know the maint. schedule for the G requires a tranny flush somewhere in the 30k range. Just wanted to get some feedback on whether people actually got this done in their cars..I have heard say not to change tranny oil because it's already worked in to your tranny and changing it sometimes does more bad than good.
Just lookin for some feedback/thoughts on it.

basically, it becomes an issue if it has been left too long and has started to change properties.
if you follow the schedule that's appropriate for your conditions you will not have to worry about whether to change or not.

hey vin, too early for a tran flush/change, possibly at 75k I would maybe consider one, but it's true that unless you push the car (which we know you don't) then I would hold off. I will prolly be doing a diff fluid change at about 60k in my manual.
Infiniti only requires a service every 30k if you tow, drive on muddy/rough roads, use a car-top carrier, etc. The premium maintenance schedule does call for a service every 30k, but the the other schedules ask you to inspect the fluid and replace on an as-needed basis.
Check the fluid condition periodically and perform a full flush (as outlined in the factory service manual) with an approved service fill (Matic-J from the dealership) when necessary. Remember, discoloration of the fluid is normal with the newest transmission fluids. They contain more dispersants than the older fluids and are able to suspend more particles. If the transmission uses carbon fiber materials, this will cause the fluid to become dark very quickly and does NOT mean a change is necessary.
Personally, I'd still perform a full flush every 45-60k miles if the vehicle is driven in the city (or sees a lot of stop-n-go traffic) and every 90-105k if the vehicle was a freeway cruiser. That's just my opinion only and is not what Infiniti recommends.
