any advise on how to fight a speeding ticket? I received a speeding tix on I-287 for 109mph (in a 55).i honestly only remember seeing it at 80+mph, not over 100.

i think you're pretty much screwed, going over 100 i think they can give you reckless driving and possibly impound the car if its in your name. you're lucky if you just got the speeding ticket. call a lawyer and see what he could do for you.

Appearance ticket? Is it a 1212 (reckless) or just an 1180 (speeding)? Either way, you're pretty much going to need an attorney. If its a 1212, expect 28 hours of a community service and to plead it down to a speed (if you're lucky). If its just a speed, then expect to eat it at probably 30mph over the limit. Either way, you're insurance is [censored].

Get your lawyer.

Speeding ticket won't add points to your driver's license? I thought it did!! At least that's what I was told.... did you talk to an attorney?

it shows up on the license but doesn't add points for drivers outside the tri-state. (i am not a ny'er)

 

i got pulled over tonight on the Garden State Parkway around exit 130...

he said i did (1) speeding around 75 (in a 55) - he was estimating (2) unsafe lane change and (3) following too closely. anyone who has driven the GSP during rush hour knows this is a bunch of BS.
40 other cars doing the same thing, but the red one gets pulled over. color profiling! whatever

anyways, he gave me one single ticket for "Careless Driving" which is only an $82 fine, the lowest moving violation, and told me to take it easy. anybody know the rules on points from NJ?

i've gotten speeding tix in PA and in NJ down the shore and i don't think they ever went on my license/insurance.

considering i've been driving the G "fairly aggressively" since july, i'm surprised i didn't get a speeding ticket sooner. i will make sure i take it a little easier from now on

I have an attorney whose specialty is traffic cases. He handles a good majority of the cases for cab companies and such. Anyway, I was charged with doing 94 in a 35mph WORKZONE!! I was ona highway that has very very poor lighting. I couldnt tell the spped limit but that doesnt make a difference because I was accused of doing 94 anyway. I dont remember what I was really doing but I would say I was doing more like 75 or 80. Thats the speed I normally tend to drive. I didnt have a radar detector back then but I have one now and its helped many many times. If you have a sports car its absolutely imperative to own one fo these gadgets. Sooner or later a driver will push his/her car past the speed limit. Anyway my case is still pending. There normally is a fine and license suspension for doing 41+ over the speed limit but I have this attorney who charged me 500 big ones and I am just waiting to see the outcome.
