Exterior Mods Planned for Spring... Opinions?
Being involved with the G-Squad has exposed me to lots of different ideas and options on ways to make the G faster, better looking, and more fun. I trust your opinions. That being said, I would like to know what you all think of my plans for the coupe's exterior next spring/summer... some of this stuff is going to take some time so I gotta start placing orders soon....

The mods would consist of:
1. DataSystems Front Lip (urethane replica from either ExtremeDimensions or 350zForums)
2. Impul Side Skirts (hopefully a replica will be out by then since the real ones are $$$)
3. NISMO LMGT4 Wheels in 19inch w/ Bridgestone Pole Position S-03's
4. A nice set of tints on the windows (possibly Huper Optiks)
5. A slight drop via springs? I hesitate b/c of poor quality NYC roads + the 19inchers + the front lip
note that the StopTech BBK you see in there is not part of the plans, but i borrowed the wheels (courtest of Photoshop) from Rspec and his car has the StopTechs. (his car is my G's idol by the way)
sorry if the photoshop i posted here is a little rough looking, i started doing it just so that i could see how it might look... but i figured, i might as well see what the Squad thinks

Re: Exterior Mods Planned for Spring... Opinions?
Worlds - All I can say about the Diamond Audio components is GET THEM. I had the Hex series w/ silk tweets in one of my last cars and it was BY FAR the best system I've ever heard. You can also get killer deals online, I got 2 sets of 2 ways with crossovers for $500 shipped (not bad considering it usually runs $1,200 for the same setup in stores). I would advise you to stay away from the subs though. Bang for your buck I find Eclipse and JL to be tops (I used to work at a car stereo store and I've heard them all).

neil i've been following the progress of theeggman1's car for almost a year now... it's easy to put all those goodies on your car when you're sponsored by the largest G35 dealership in the country (Grubbs).

the before and after pic (of the photoshop, not actually my car)... it's amazing how a set of aggressive wheels completely transforms the look of the car from sporty luxury to badass.

Re: Exterior Mods Planned for Spring... Opinions?
phat,
i'm planning on doing it as the finances allow. some of the more difficult items to aquire (read: 19 inch NISMOs) will need to be ordered far in advance. i'm going to mount a set of snows on my stock 18s, and use that as my winter setup. after seeing your rims at the Showoff Meet, my devotion to the NISMO's began to waiver, but i still like them the best.
the lip i'll worry about when it gets warm again (if i install it now it might as well be called the Data Systems snowplow) and the tints too.
i'm holding off on the Impul side skirts right now since i believe the pair of them is around $800 bucks and for that price, i'd rather buy some more go-fast goodies (Fujitsubo exhaust with Y-pipe?). i'm hoping someone will make a nice replica of these skirts. the original Data lip is like 420 and they have a replica for 289, so i hope replica skirts, if they come out, will be a similar bargain.
anybody have thoughts on whether a drop is a bad idea on these god forsaken roads? (i have visions of dented rims and horribly a disfigured front lip and exhaust system)

Looks pretty sick! I would pick Paul's brain from Eastern about the wheels, he likes hooking up the GSquaders!!
I think the only thing your G would need is some sort of rear valance to match up with the side skirts. Maybe it's me but those aggressive, hot side skirts need to be finished off with a lil sumtin sumtin in the rear. I think something that replaces the stock splash guard but kind of continues the line of the side skirt would look INSANE!!!!
For a lil flash, talk with Lou and see if you can have his guy polish the lips of the Nismos!!! HOW HOT WOULD THAT LOOK!!! Add just the right amount of flash...Mmmmmm my mouth is watering....
Anyway, looks great as is too!! Start saving!!! LOL

Re: Exterior Mods Planned for Spring... Opinions?
Chris,
Quick question - why not crawford headers? heard they provide great gains and I think they're about the same price as the Nismo's (Both expensive as hell). In regards to the high flow cats, why not go with resonated test pipes? Again, just from what I read here, most high flow cats only last about a year or 2 tops. That's why NY stinks with their yearly inspection. Basically with test pipes you'd have to swap out the testers for your stock cats for inspection purposes unless we find a place *cough* *cough* with a broken *cough* camera. Anyway, just some thoughts. Either way, gonna be a sick machine, even for an automatic!!! LOL ...Come on, you knew I had to through that in there!!! JK!!!
Maybe we should all arrange a meet at Crawford in the spring. We can do a group buy/install!!! Only about a 12-13 hour drive or so!! Let's do it!!! I am thinking about a Crawford plenum and some exhaust mods myself......of course, waiting to hear that Nismo before I make my decision!!! LOL

i agree... however... i have yet to find a rear valence that looks good to me. the side skirts match up with the rear splash guards well, and not having a low valence in the back means that people will be able to see those 275's out back and my cannon sized Fujitsubo tips (when i get them)... showing that my G means business and doesn't just look pretty.

if you look closely at the wheels in my photoshop, you'll see another little detail i added that i was planning on doing.... an idea i came up with after looking at the UT car

Re: Exterior Mods Planned for Spring... Opinions?
I would hold off on all exterior kit modifications until April '05 for two reasons.
1. Hopefully Ken Style replica side skirts become available. Those are a lot better IMO than Impul.
2. Veilside ver 2.0 should be out by then. Who knows what it will look like.

i agree the kenstyle side skirts are hot... they are similar to the Impul ones i have posted but even more angular, which i kinda like... i'm going for that wedge look, low and sharp in the front of the car (data lip) and rising towards the back.

the kenstyle front bumper is kinda like the impul as well, but the kenstyle IMO is more clean and classy looking.

what i DO NOT like is the kenstyle rear bumper.... it looks like the rear of a ferrari, which is probably the objective, but i think it feels kinda out of place on this car
