Snow Tires Rerererevisited
Guys, I'm somewhat limited in the snow tire selection right now, but its obvious that if I want to keep my job, I'll need them to get to work when the first flake hits the ground.
My options are to buy the Blizak LM22's for my stock 18" wheels or go with a better snow package with less inconvenience on a new set of 17" wheels.
Dismounting my tires and mounting the LM22's will cost $1000 from my tire guy. (Then I'll have to swap back in the spring.)
A 17" wheel and tire package from Tire Rack will cost $1163, but I'll only be able to get the Michelin Alpin LP2's with 225/45/17's. The price is shipped to me with nuts and already being mounted and balanced.
If anyone knows where I can get a set of snow tires/rims in 17" for my brembo equiped car, let me know.
Alright, so who's got the hookup?

Greg... I would go with the smaller profile and narrower 17" since it helps cut into the snow. You can try getting a hold of Paul (Eastern) and see if he can help ya out. He got me a great deal on my package, and you'll save shipping costs, etc. (Cheaper than Tirerack
)
I myself got the Blizzaks LM-22 since most places recommended them and review have been great. Just the mounting/dismounting costs on the 18" (plus the tires being more expensive) would run you a $Benjamin$ every year. That way, you can just swap and go with a set of 17" winter setups lying around.

I'm going with a cheaper soultion of a $600 set of snows for the 18's. I don't even know what kind they are or the reviews they got and since I'm using the 18's as the tires I swap out to I only have to worry about the rubber swap once. I made it on the summer tires believe it or not, very slowly and hairy at times, but I made it. I figure with snows on the 18's I just have that much more of a chance.
I must say that the set up from eastern llooks nice and I did think about it breifly just so I wouldn't have to put the stockers on. Not that the stock rims are that bad. Just that going fully custom to stock hurts. LoL

I'm counting down the days to Spring so I can get the winters off already...
GForce, what tires are you using? b/c i'm going to do the exact same thing... i'm gonna mount snows on my 18s and ditch the Pilots... then mount up my new 19's (hopefully) in the spring
