You're right... to a degree. You see, BMW's 3 Series has a racing heritage, including the 318i. The E36 318 is not in a different gene-pool as the E36 M3. They are the same family!

The fact of the matter is, all models in the 3 series, respective to their designation (E30, E36, E46, E90), are related. For instance, the E46 323Ci, 325Ci, 328Ci and 330Ci share the identical platform as the E46 M3. It is the very same chassis! That would make them related. That goes for the sedans too. Take for instance the E36 328i sedan... it shares the identical platform as the E36 M3 sedan. And every new 3 series is an evolution of the prior one. So the E36 is simply the evolution of the E30 - the E46 is just the evolution of the E36... and the E90 coming out in 3 months, is an evolution of the E46. This makes them all related. THAT is why I mentioned the G20 in relation to the G35. I don't know much about Infiniti's product designation culture, so please forgive me. I was just thinking that they probably were following the same pattern as BMW in terms of evolution since they used the G designation (G20 ---> G35). No need to be insulted at all, because if the G35 is the evolution of the G20, what an INCREDIBLE evolution it is! It being related to the G20 takes nothing away from the G35's majesty and greatness! In fact, it is a compliment to the engineers at Infiniti, for accomplishing the creation of such a superb next generation product!

Ive been to several of the Lexus meets and they consist mostly of GS with a few older SC

when your talking about Bimmer meets it is about 95% M3s.

thats why we dont call it an Infiniti meet....simply G35 meet...lets face it we rule...
