June 26th "PJ & GS" Fund Raiser Details

June 26th, 2005

Papa John's Pizza & The G-Squad First Annual Fund Raiser

Papa John's Pizza with the Help and coordination of the G-Squad Car Club, will be hosting their first annual Fund Raiser for the children at the Norwalk Community Hospital in Norwalk, CT.

The event will be held at Papa John's Pizza, 164 Main Street, Norwalk, CT starting at 11am. The event fee is $5 per person attending and ALL the proceeds from the event will go to purchase various toys and gifts, like balloons, coloring books & crayons, small plush toys, frisbees, etc., for the kids in the hospital who have various aliments. Papa John's has access to such toys and gifts through its co-op, which in return enabled them to have incredible buying power, and can get such items at below wholesale prices. At the end of the event, we'll count the donations and within the next week to two, we'll plan out what to buy and I'll personally make the arrangements with the hospital to deliver them, with the help of a few G-Squad volunteers of course.

All attendees will also have the chance to throw in any additional donations he or she wishes to do so in a donation bin we will have and keep in front of the store from today on to the event.

The local newspaper, The Hour, as well as News 12 has been informed and invited to the event. A rep from the newspaper has already checked in with me and will be scheduling a reporter to stop by during the event.

We'll be serving hot and fresh Pizza and cold beverages "compliments of Papa John's Pizza" from 12am to 1pm. Additional food from our menu is also available and will be offered to all G-Squad members at a 25% discount. If you want to bring anything else to eat, hey that's quite all right too. We have a small grill that everyone is welcome to use. If anyone has a special request or need, we'll also try our best to accommodate them.

Both Auto Zone and Borders Book Store have agreed to donate $20 each in gift cards for the event that we'll be raffling off at 3pm. All attendees will recieve one raffle ticket. Additional tickets are available for sale at $1 each, and once again all proceeds will go to our cause. By the 26th, we may have other sponsors as well, or if anyone knows someone or some place who would like to be a sponsor and donate an item and or service to be raffled, please have them contact me.

If you're down, give us a shout, and we'll see you all there

If the date is not fixed, and it' can be moved to a later date, then definitely count me in!

If not, then I'll gladly mail in a small monetary contribution for this great cause either way!!

For those of you who cant make it out to the event, we'll be happy to accept donations via mail. You can send in a Money Order and or Check, made out to Papa John's Pizza (memo area: Norwalk Hospital Donation), and mail it to 164 Main Street, Norwalk, CT 06851. All donations will be logged and posted up the day of the event. Thanks!

Thumbs up

Hey John,

I think it's an exceptional idea to put this together this sort of event. I know we all help each other out as GSquaders, but it's nice for us to give back to those less fortunate, as well as our community.

I hope this helps break the stereotype that the modding community is just a bunch of outlaws, spoiled, arrogant, A-holes... It's those small percentage of "Jacka$S-like Street Racers" that give people the modding culture/people a bad name.

This goes along with what we're trying to create with GSquad... it's more than a car club where people help each other out, talk cars/chill, meets...

It feels good (Karma-wise) to be able to give back a little to the community.

Directions & Info For The Papa John's Meet

Directions. . .

Hey guys, here are the directions to the store. I will assume most of you already know how to get to either the Whitestone or Throgs Neck bridge, which will lead you right on to I95, so with that in mind, all you need to do is get on I95 heading north and get off exit 15. Now a quick note about the exits on I95, when you first get on I95 in NY (right after the bridges) you will pass an exit 15, but DO NOT take that exit. You're still in NY till exit 22. After exit 22, which I believe is Rye NY, the CT exits will restart in number order. The drive time from the bridges to exit 15 in CT is roughly 20-30min depending on traffic.

Once you get to exit 15, you'll be on a long exit ramp that will swing you on to Route 7. Once you merge on to Route 7, get over to your far right hand lane, and get off the first exit (exit 1). At the traffic light at the end of the off ramp, make a right on to Belden Ave, and then at your second traffic light make a quick left on to Cross Street. Continue on Cross Street, crossing over a set of rail road tracks, and when you get to Main Street (next major traffic light intersection), make a left. As a landmark there will be an Exon gas station on your left hand side and a Transmission shop on your right. Papa John's Pizza is approx 1/2 mile up on Main Street on your right hand side.

Misc Info. . .

We have one small/med size charcoal grill here (plenty of charcoal too). Everyone is welcome to use it, but just be sure to bring whatever it is you want to grill on it. If you want to bring another grill and have room for it, heck, that's cool with me. As always, if anyone wants to wash there car, I have a hose, bucket, soap and wash mit you can use. The "wheelman" will be gassed up and ready for anyone who wants to attempt it or further master their skills (eh hum.. Wally). We will need a mature individual to handle the helium tank and blow up balloons (and NOT suck it all up) for the kids. Delivery drivers are always helpful (just kidding, or am I?).
