great job, with those extra spacers was there any problem replacing the door panel back on?? I guess how much depth are you able to work with?? And could you have made the MDF ring thicker/thinner?? I might want a set!!

There's actually a lot of room to work with within the door panels of the G. Loads of "empty" space. The ring can be made thinner, but there's no need, and since most components are larger (depth wise) than the cheap-azz Bose woofers, you'll want all the air space you can get. Once you get in side the panels and pull off the OEM Bose woofers, you'll see what I mean....

conklin... yea i can make another set... shoot me a PM

pj.... there's plenty of depth... and actually, the 3/4" MDF brings the aftermarket woofer to almost exactly the same spot as the stock woofer... it lines up perfectly with the gasket on the backside of the door panel

Getting ready to order the Kappa component speakers as door replacements for my '03 G coupe now, and the 6.5" 62.9is for the back as well. Do I need the speaker spacers for just the door speakers only, or on both rear side panels as well?

Bro this thread is almost 4 years old.

You need spacers if your speakers are deeper than your door. Most people install them to have a solid mounting surface.

Thanks, guess I should've opened a new thread. So to be safe, I guess I should buy them for both the front door and rear trim finisher speaker mounts, right?

Done deal, Zen 1" speaker spacers were money for both front and back sides.
