OK guys need advice if I should pull the trigger
Well after deliberating for months on whether I should sell the G or possibly trade in I think Im gonna trade in.
Don't laugh guys but Im thinking of trading her in for a Civic Si and cash out on my equity. I owe $13K on the G and my payments are low $400 so its not the monthly payment it everything else like: Gas (14 miles per gallon is not cutting it) insurance ( tickets I got years ago finally caught up to me and now Im at 10 points) meaning insurance premium will be affected.
I really think the 2006 Honda Civic is a great car for the money. I mean it cost less than $20K and it comes with everyhting you need in a daily driver. It has a 2.0 engine with 197 HP, 6 speed close ratio tranny with LSD....the MPG is 21/31 which is a lot better than the G. It also comes with navi CD/MP3 /xm 350 watt stereo even an input for Ipod. This car is the best pocket rocket for 2006 based on specs and reviews.
or I can always trade in for the 2006 Honda civic hybrid which get 50 miles city and highway miles per gallon.
anyways check out the pics tell me what you think

No pics, slacker...
I personally wouldn't do it. The words "equity" and "car", don't go hand in hand. You already have the car, might as well use it until it's paid off. Every time you buy a car and sell it prematurely (less than 3 years), you're losing...
As far as gas consumption goes, just go easy on it, you'll be surprised on how much more gas you can get out of it by taking it easy for a while.
But I guess whatever floats your boat dude, good luck!

Sweet car man, I'm too big for one of those. But I really like the new design on them, and it's a great value for the money. I've been thinking about trading my G in for those reasons too...but I decided not too for 2 main reasons...
1) The future will be filled with all of these hybrid type of economy cars, sports cars and SUV's will be a thing of the past so might as well enjoy the G now.
2) I'm only young once, so just another reason to enjoy the G now.
Financially, I don't know where you're at. It's a fiscally responsible move on paper, but in real life it's a true down grade.

Thank you for the quick response but I am in between cars right now. The G is great and does everything I need her to do but Ive been dealt some real sheetty cards right now and I have to make moves. Dealers so far have offered me about $27K which is a huge depreciation from $38K I bought for.
This honda will not depreciate because its that good of a car that if I can pick this car up for $21K I can easily sell it for $16-$17K in a year.
Honda new warranty is 3/36 year bumper to bumper and 5/50 miles powertrain so it will still be in warranty.
economy car buying people would buy used to save $2-$3k where somebody buying a G35 would rather buy new.
This civic would be a 1-2 year car till I decide where to go

believe in no way am I comparing the G35 coupe to this economy car but financially it makes absolute sense. I can afford the G and all the tickets and gas it consumes but does it make economical sense. If I trade in and cash out on the left over equity which should be around $13-14K and I dont pay for tax on the Civic then I can put the rest on a 1.9 credit card for the life of the loan. It wont even need full coverage at that point but I think this car will probably need theft.

Financially it definitely makes sense, the G is not your regular point A to point B car.

Well Lou,
What's more important to you? Your bank account or you're *****?
That's a decision you have to make. If you can afford it, just keep the G a little longer, and then trade it in for the next generation g35..muahahahaha

My main priority is getting into a car that will not make me feel bad about trading in the G. For the last 6 years all of my car have been 260 Hp or more and 0 -60 in low 6s. I want to get into a car that is good on gas, has speed if I need it, has great resale value, is reliable, feels and looks cool, wont kill me on insurance now with my new found points.
Overall the Civic makes sense for the next couple of years but maybe Im not looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. In my opinion gas prices will not come down under $3 a gallon for premium. I strongly believe that the hybrid car will be the way of the future and it is only a matter of time before it will be the only way to buy a car.

that is something that I feel as well. I am completely aware of the fact that the G is the perfect car or as close of a perfect car for the money you can get. I mean all the other cars are close but are missing the RWD and sexy lines the G has. The G has the perfect size to it where it is neither too small or too big and also its the perfect blend of luxury and sport.
it does have its drawbacks but its is very close to what I call a perfect car for my needs and wants.

How about a WRX. Don't those get good gas mileage? I do like the new Civic thought. I have been looking into getting a second car for better mileage, winter driving, but still peppy. I am looking into getting a Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS for under $10,000 and AWD. Maybe that is something you would be interested in.
