My mom has been home for the past 3 days since she cant get to work. She works till 8pm every night so by the time she gets home usually around 9 or later. But with strike she probably wont make it home till 11 or ifg not later.

I work in Long Island City and the traffic here is insane, people going down the wrong way on the street, people fighting over who suppose to go where. Last night i was stuck in a gridlock which turned to chaos after 45 min. Meanwhile i still stood in the same spot. The cop that was directing traffic just left cause he couldnt do anything about it.

fire them all... close down the union... nothing but lazy bitsches. Unions serve no purpose in society today.... end of story.
There are two side to every story man.

sad part is the low level employees who are losing a lot of pay...watever its over - things like this are bound to happen every so often...

on a good note it was good to see the city and the LIRR and the NYPD were able to cope and made a terrible situation work out as best as possible (gotta always look at the bright side of things)

it stinks knowing that a lot of people who make ends meet and work for minimum wage and depend solely on MTA didnt work through out all this.

I wanna see what kind of service they will give us after this. i wouldnt expect much.

I went to college on my own money. My parents didnt pay for my school, they didnt even know what college fund was. I took loans out all in my name and have $60k College loan to show for it. My dad busted his *** working 2 jobs when we came to this country 15 yrs ago with nothing. At age 12 i was already working at a bagel store and doing construction and i did it All for $3-5 bucks an hour. I graduated from HS, went to one college and then another. Nobody handed me anything, I worked for it. I am an immigrant that came here for a better life and i'm taking advantage of every opportunity given to me.

Even now i have full time job and i still took a 2nd job to get some extra money. I figure if i'm young and i have time to spare before i go to sleep why not be productive and do something about it. I work on weekends as well. about 15-20 hrs not counting 55+ hrs i put in during the week with no lunch break or any benefits..or medical or any pension. I dont complain. I work.

As for the comment for living with momy and daddy... I help my parents out just like they helped me out as i was growing up. In my culture its the least i can do. Beside... with working all the time.. i am not home enough to enjoy the beauty of having yoru own place.

How do you think people in your position feel who are counting on public transportation to get to work so they can help their family out.

mygspot, i worked 80 hours a week to get my g. i am a high school graduate and have certificates from the state on nj. but i don t judge peeps who didn t get higher learning. nothing was handed to me, my dad busted his azz working 2 jobs and doing side work to take care of my mom , sisters, brother and myself growing up. i worked to jobs while i was at school as a paper boy and making chocolate at a candy store and that is why i don t judge peeps. i m a rep and defend my fellow co workers who are 80 percent are south american. i consider them family. im talking peru, ecuador, portugeese, guatemala polish too, etc... i m not upset at you personally just your comments. think about how many you have offended with your comments. have a merry- mas and happy new year
