Sylvania Silverstar to Replace Stock Fog Lights?

As it is pretty much universally agreed that the stock halogen fog lights are less than optimal, I wish to replace them with aftermarket bulbs. Seems like many of you are using PIAAs and many posts have been made about them but has anyone used the Sylvania Silverstar (9003 is the correct type, right?) on the G? Any pictures? What is the level of brightness and do they blow out in 2 months like I've been hearing about the PIAAs? Seems like the Silverstar might be a good deal as they only cost $50/pair.

I've had my 9003 STs on since last summer. Reasonable match for the HIDs and more reliable than PIAA. Noticeably brighter than stock as well.
High Beams.

What are ST's? Does ST= silver star? SS or SSS might work better?? Who makes ST's?

Do the PIAA's really burn out that quick?
Its not exactly an easy job getting into the bulb housing and I'd hate to have to keep replacing them that often. It probably depends on how often you use your fogs too.....

Wow, thanks for the pic, which looks like the silverstar does closely match the HIDs. I'll probably pick up a pair myself. One question, how much did you pay for them?

I have had Silverstars in a truck for over 1 1/2 years without burn out. Of course the amount of night driving with lights on per week, is more the measure of bulb life than just saying they last so many months. These bulbs are only on for an average of 4 to 6 hours per week.

Are you talking about the fourth product down from the top on this page? Do you have any pictures?

Have some pics of my Silverstars installed. Too yellow for me, I'm going to try PIAA Xtreme Whites.

Re: Sylvania Silverstar to Replace Stock Fog Lights?

Hey Gordgee, The Silverstars look good.
I'm thinking to get replacements now while they're on sale a CTC. Is that where you bought yours?
I can't remember my bulb #'s from the Sedan-- My Coupe #'s are H1 for the low beam, and HB2 for the high beam/fogs (according to my O/Manual)
Can anyone confirm these #'s. It's seems there was a mistake in one of the owners manuals and I've forgotten which one now.

Stock listing in O/Manual.......H1- Low Beam
Stock listing in O/Manual.......HB2- High Beam/ Fog

What are the corresponding Sylvania Silverstar #'s please.

TIA--- GSM--

GSM:

9003 is also referenced to as a H4 also is a HB2

No, when I got mine STs last summer, they just came out in the 9003 ST. I had to go directly to the factory. CDN Tire just got them in. H1 for the low beam apply only if you don't have HIDs. The Xenon bulb is a D2-R I believe.

Yeah I think I will try the PIAA Xtreme Whites. Anyone want my Silverstars? They have been on for about thirty minutes total. I guess this is the wrong place for that....

Gordgee's Silverstars look white but SNoWyV82's look much more yellow - like totally different bulbs. What gives?
