Careful with the VDC off though, a little too much gas while you're cornering, you'll be spinning out... i suggest you always leave it on when you're on the freeway.
Those of you who complain vdc doesn't help, it slows me down when i downshift, try matching your rpm with your gas at the same time as your downshifting, and let out the clutch just at the same time as you're giving full throttle.
If you get this right:
1) You will have no spinning of tires, thus vdc will not even kick in.
2) You can downshift a lot more stable on very curvy roads.
3) You are going actually faster because you're not losing all the precious traction by chirping.
4) Your tranny, clutch, brakes, tires, will all last longer.

I'll stop here.... heh
I do leave my vdc off most of the time because I like to have full control over my car when i corner, but I usually turn it on when i'm on the freeway for safety.

Yeah im not that much of an idiot/noob. I respect the power of RWD, and I never floor it around corners. I just feel VDC is sometimes too intrusive, but it does help in everyday driving. I leave it on when im just cruising to school and such things, but when i feel like driving a bit aggressive, I take it off and punch it down that straight away

Brakes are cheaper than clutches is what I've always heard. If you are coming up on a red light just leave it in the gear you are in and right before stopping hit the clutch and put it in neutral.

I'm not 100% sure that it best practice. Any comments?

If you leave it in gear your not wearing the clutch...Your using the engine to slow down the car...

Yeah but if you properly revmatch and downshift, theres no wear on the clutch either, and it also helps to slow down even more.

exactly. Our pedals are pefectly spaced where I can heel and toe. I can brake the car while downshifting
