Seat Trick

Ive been search around the forums but with no luck. A while ago, some1 posted a way to get more headroom from our seats. Im pretty positive it involved the tightening or loosening of a bolt in the seat rail. Does any1 have any recognition of this thread somewhere?

Guess you can't read the part where he said he had already searched.

What is it with all the attitude toward a re-post anyway. If you don't want to take the time to read it, just skip it.

Besides, the search feature on this site blows. You can't even use "with", "or", "+", "and", or any other normal search words or methods to find a thread with multiple words or whole phrases.

Yeah man its cool as hell, I now sit nice n tucked, I feel even lower in my car than I do in my friends Z , I got extra room everywhere, not just headroom, my knees arent as squished up to the steering wheel. Do it, it took me 2 minutes...

wow im such a n00b. Maybe i dont have the right tools but I just tried to do it and my 6'4" body comes with big hands and i could barely fit under the sit, let alone put huge pliers around the nut. It was circular so i couldnt get a good grip on it to even start out with. guess the seat is staying where it is for now. ...i suck at life

Nah man im 6'4 myself, trust me, you can do it. Pull the whole seat forward, even the reclinement, and make the seat go up as high as possible, and you can fit ur hand in there...

This is a very easy DIY. As chilibowl said, move the seat all the way foward and then up as high as you can. Then take a small vice grip and you can grab onto the bolt and turn it with no problem. You can only turn it 1/4 to 1/2 turn at a time, so it will take some patience. Until I did this, the seating position for me was intolerable.

I just bought an '06 Coupe and am loving it. I test drove and checked out a bunch of them in Phoenix and my head hit the sunroof frame even with the seat in the lowest position...So I waited 6 weeks for the car I wanted (red, auto, aero and suspension pkgs) WITHOUT a sunroof or the $3,000 gizmo package,,,none of which I wanted anyway. I love the headroom and overall roominess without the sunroof, but still put the seat in the lowest possible position. I am just 6' tall, but with a long torso. I can't fit in most sports cars.

ugh

wow, im such a freakin nub, or my nut wont loosen up. I've tried with three diff tools now. I get under there, i move back the plastic nut away from the silver nut (towards the trunk) and i grip onto the the silver circular nut and try turning it clockwise. All i seem to be doing is scratching it up..not getting any twisting. Its not budging and i dont want to break it or continue scratching it. Am i doing the right thing here. Should I put grease or WD40 on it? arg why is this easy mod giving me such a hard time

Man I just did this and I cant believe that just 3/4" makes it feel so much better. I am 6'2" and it my head was really close to the roof before, but now it's nice. Thanks for the repost. You dont hear that too often.

this kind of repost is useful unlike others where someone asks how to install clear corners a million times.

yes the search sucks.. you can't even search through the market place forum for past sale items or 3 letter words like DPE.
