Help - My G went postal on me!
Help - My G went postal on me!
Last night I was out with my '04 AT coupe and was doing some spirited driving for a bit. I came to a red light and noticed I wasn't stopping. I look down at my tach and I see the RPMs climbing. My foot was not on the gas pedal but trust me, I was pressing really hard on the break. I started creeping into the intersection, saw all the cars wizzing by and popped into neutral. The car immediately redlined and I shut it off and went to hazard blinkers.
It wasn't the most pleasant of experiences to say the least. I sat there for a bit and finally put the shifter to park and started it up again. No problems. Drove for about another 1/2 hour but the situation didn't repeat itself.
Has anyone else experienced this? This is obviously a safety concern for me. I wondered if something like this could happen considering it is a throttle by wire car. Thoughts appreciated.

You know what, my G sometimes acts really weird too. I'll start it up sometimes and no power will go to the car...i mean none of the gauges amber lights will come up, the radio will not come on, the door lights won't come on. When I see this happen, i pull over, turn off the car and wait about 30 seconds, start it back up and then it'll be fine. But this has happened to me about 2-3 times in the last 3 months. Any answers?

how big is your foot? I've heard of and experienced many instances where the side of your foot overhangs onto the gas pedal. You start noticing the car lurching forward, and rpms rising, you press the brake harder, then respectively, the gas gets pressed down further as well making more power to the wheels.
I have wide feet, and w/ b-ball shoes on (12's), i've done it a few times. I know it sounds lame, but a very likely scenario, especially if you brake by leaning your foot over to the brake pedal rather than lifting your foot and depressing the middle of the brake pedal.
Just a thought. If you can't narrow it down, take it in and get it checked... it is a serious problem.

Gashed,
your story sounds very similar to mine (https://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-suspension/101404-03-g35-sedan-brake-failure.html). While I didn’t have a chance to notice RPM, they way in which you describe things, trying to stop but your vehicle not responding, is exactly what I experienced. And then it working normally afterwards.
I also do not believe my foot was on the gas. I’ve been driving for several years now (do have narrow feet), and never once accidentally hit the gas pedal while braking.
I’ve not had the problem since but like you, it’s given me quite an uneasy feeling. Hearing someone else experience this is reassuring in a way, now if Infiniti can acknowledge there is an issue, I’d be thrilled.
I’m still working on them.
