faster downshift in manual shift mode??? - 5AT

03 coupe 5AT...

1) what kind of mod will allow me to DOWNSHIFT faster in manual shift mode? (valve body only helps for upshift)

2) is there a way to skip a gear to downshift 2 gears?

i want to downshift 2 gears quickly in mm, but it takes forever!! it has to go in sequence and takes it's sweet time doing so. has anyone figured out a way to improve this?? thanks

it will skip a gear if it's in auto mode, but i don't like this... timing is unpredictable.

I have a solution. GET A STANDARD TRANSMISSION.

Manumatic is only good for pretending.

Your mm should downshift 2 gears at once... just hit it 2 times fast. I can get mine to go 5-3, 4-2, and 3-1 without any trouble.

same here - it requires a quick double-tap on the shifter.

i can't believe this!!!! i feel retarded and embarassed, but at the same time, i'm excited that it works! (2 clicks - faster than i've ever tried)

i'm usually in auto when i'm cruising and then need a 2 gear downshift, so i have to slide it right for 4th and then down for 3rd. i haven't tried doing this really fast, so maybe it works this way too... i'll figure that out in the morning. thanks for the quick reply guys.

wow!!!!! i feel ripped off that i didn't figure this out a long time ago. moderators may want to delete this thread to save space... i wonder how many drivers don't know this. just me?

Shifting over to MM and pushing down quickly into 3rd is a very fast shift. Faster than if I were in 5th and quicly tap twice down to 3rd. So I rather cruise in D and shift that way to 3rd, the only thing I am worried about is the constant moving in and out of MM if any part of the shifter will wear down.

The other thing that improves the smoothness of down shifting is,
DON'T lift off the throttle until after the shift completes.
(especially in pre '05 w/o rev matching logic)
