Tint Question - New Jersey
#16
I used to drive a Subaru STi and I had all my windows tinted 35% I think, I got tint tickets twice, and both times they were down in like Middletown one of those shore areas. I drove around in my town and all connecting towns, and they never looked twice at me cause of the tint, and an STi is like a sore thumb to cops, I would get pulled over for other things, but never brought up the tint except those two times, one was specifically for the tint the other was speeding, which all he gave me was a tint ticket.

On the doors, I would love a darker tint but I am worried about the tickets. Any of you have experience in NJ with front door window tinting?

MY CAR HAS 20% ALL AROUND AND A 6 INCH STRIP ON THE WINDSHIELD. MOST PLACES YOU WONT HAVE ANY TROUBLE. ITS THE SMALL TOWNS WHERE THE COPS HAVE NOTHING TO DO, WHERE YOU WILL GET PULLED FOR TINT. EVEN THOUGH THEY ALL DO IT, THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PULL YOU FOR TINT ALONE. YOU HAVE TO BE SPEEDING OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND THEN YOU CAN GET PULLED OVER AND GIVEN A TICKET FOR TINT. ITS JUST LIKE THE CELL PHONE LAW.

The NJ cell phone law was changed. You can be pulled over for talking on one with no other infraction.
And they can pull you over for tint on front windows in NJ, it is illegal to have any tint on front windows.
IMO the lighter stuff they don't bother with you because they can still see in. After all the whole purpose of no tint is they can't see in the vehicle on traffic stops.
