Arm rest noise~!?

Hey guys, I took my G to service department and got my arm rest replaced cuz it was making creaking, clicking noise whenever i rest my arm on it..
but even with the replacement, it is still making clicking and creaking noise..
it is created from two metals from the arm rest lid and the center console...
any idea or suggestion on how to fix this?

Does the noise come from the front where it lifts or in the rear where it is hinged?

They have a TSB for the arm rest rubber stoppers but mine does not look like the one in that picture. My armrest connects with 2 magnets I believe and it just lifts up, there is no latch or rubber stoppers.

Are there different arm rests after the 03.5 updated center console?

Actually, I resolved the slight creaking/ticking noise, if you will, last week. At the front/bottom of the armrest base are two metal tabs, which receive the two magnets in the armrest. I simply took a small birthday candle and rubbed a bit of wax on the two metal tabs. The noise is gone . . . For now.

I did something similar, except I used liquid teflon from home depot. Did the same thing. No more annoying squeaks.

^ haha cool Andy! Innovative and resourceful... Good job.

When I try to fix creaks or whatever I look around the garage, kitchen, bathroom, and all over the place for something. I never know what that something is until I find it. Then it's HA I will give this a shot

Did you see the picture on the TSB? What model is that arm rest from with the latch? I guess it is the sedan.

Yeah, we all do the best that we can. It's the simple things, ya know?

Yes, I do believe the armrest pic is from a sedan. I can see the rear headrest, etc.

well... i guess i'll try that today and see my creaks and clicks goes away...
but when i got a loaner from dealer, i think they gave me 06 g35 sedan and that thing had plastic hinge instead of metal that we have... that thing didn't make any noise and it securely opens and closes... any chance we can swap our arm rest to that 06 model arm rest???

I have a clicking noise in my driver door armrest on my '05 sedan, they replaced the panel, but that noise is still there, anyone have this, and maybe a fix? I'm going to take it back to the dealer, but I like to locate the noise myself if I can prior to that!

I like the teflon i'll give it a shot and if it works out I'll make sure to share my success with all the dealerships which have been "unable to reproduce the noise"

i dont have a clicking noise, but that's mostly due to the fact that i dont actually have my G yet (parents said they're workin on it for me) but i was just thinking... what if u guys tried cutting out a small piece of wax paper and super-gluing it to the metal magnet piece (glue the non-wax side)

idk, it just sounds like a more permanent fix

paper has a tendancy to rip in these applications, so you'd be left with an unacceptable mess

isolating the area with masking tape and then coating it with some kind of friction reducing material seems like the best bet to me...
