Do an accurate check of miles driven and gallons taken on. You can't trust the gauge.

Wink 1/2 Tank mileage figures

Listen up -- There is no way in h.. you can look at a gas gauge and say you are getting such and such mileage. The only way to get accurate figures is to know your gallons of gas pumped and the miles you have covered. Although the navigation instrument does give pretty accurate figures.

one more thing, did you fill the gas tank or did the seller? They may have put in 87 octane

thanks for all your replies, glad to get such great feedback.

i'm still on my first tank.. the seller sold it to me almost on E (dick ). he kept crazy good care of it, so low octane doesn't figure into the picture. yes, i agree looking at the gauge isn't an accurate account of true mpg, was just throwing out an estimate to bounce off this forum. doesn't look like i'm experiencing anything different from what the car should be doing. the majority of my driving is stop and go unfortunately, so i'm sure that's keeping the mileage down.
