Gas Mileage

Hello all,

Just bought my '04 6MT last week, and am a little shocked about the gas mileage I'm seeing on my first tank. I'm at 150miles at half the tank. That's around 15mpg on a 20g tank. I know it can be this low if you are driving it really hard, but that hasn't been the case here.

Is this any indication that something could be wrong? I live in Phoenix, and have the a/c on max all the time, but I don't think that should kill the mileage that much.

Thanks

Search it brother, this has been beaten to death forever.

The numbers you're getting could be a fluke, or they could be the best you ever see.

Driving style can cause a dramatic swing in mileage.

Make sure all your maintenance is good to go, tire pressures are set properly, fill it with good gas, break out the pad and pencil, and start monitoring.

I average about 19MPG in the city, with only occasional blasts into the throttle. On the highway I've seen as high as 28 and an average of around 25-ish.

Yes driving style and all that affects, but let's face it the G has some pretty crappy mileage. Flessner, it's pretty normal. I have 06 6MT and I pretty much get 15.8MPG on the dot no matter how hard/easy I drive. Used to be 14.3 but after putting in some intake mods the mileage increased! So start modding :P

?_? I'm always on the throttle and I see an average of 22.5mpg city. Went up about 1mpg after I added the popcharger, I was expecting it to go down because I knew I'd be heavier on the throttle. I'd get it looked at, I'd be expecting at least 18mpg, more with conservative driving.

thanks guys. I'll keep monitoring it for this tank and the next, and go from there. I know this thing can suck it down if you keep on it, but I have been driving it fairly light too start off.

I know we've beaten this topic to death but just to reassure Flessner that its not untypical to get 150 at half tank, I also get 150 at half tank no matter how I drive. The conditions are usually mostly city with heavy foot. On highways, I can get 170-180 miles at half tank and thats driving at 80-90mph. I hope you feel a lil better now, I sure don't b/c my mileage is still crappy but hey, I feel crappy while moving fast

I went to Cold Stone to celebrate after I saw this:

At one point it actually went up to 27.2 but it would have been too dangerous to try to get my camera out on the freeway...

150 at half a tank will get you about 20 mpg. The way the gauge is calibrated you are really at half tank somewhere around one notch above 1/4 on the gauge. You could just fill up now and see what you are getting though.

My milage sucked until It was broke in. Then it slowly went up. I am averaging 21-22 now. I have seen 23 on the Nav screen but never 25 like the picture.
