Window Problem?

The driver's side window on my 05 coupe has started acting up. When the window is down, if you roll it up by holding the "window button" up, the window comes up and stays up. However, if you roll it up by "engaging" the auto up feature by lifting all the way up on the window button and releasing, the window goes all the way up, then immediately rolls back down about 4 inches. I then have to roll the window back up by holding the button up. Has anyone else had this problem? Unless there is a quick easy fix, the car is going in for warranty work.

Feedback welcome.

I am pretty sure it's the "anti-pinch" security device that back up the auto up function because it feel that there is more effort to close the window than suppose, it does that to prevent cutting your throat if you would have your head out and playing with the window button ....

Just try to lubricate A LITTLE BIT the rubber weatherstrip were the window slide, it should correct your problem.

If you are not sure about the lubricant that would not damage the weatherstrip just ask your dealer.

Edit: you can test the device by trying to hold the glass when it's going up automaticly with your hand, it should stop and goes a bit down by herself (only in auto-up mode)

An easy adjustment for the dealer. Tension not correctly set.

+1...If the window is going up it shouldn't be the motor. It is probably the anti-pinch. Either way, dealer should take care of it no problem. My motors have gone bad on both driver and passenger. Dealer said to me that the motors going bad is a common problem with our G's.

i had the same problem. they changed the window motor. and less than a year later it started happening again. and the dealer warranty on repairs is 1 year 12000 miles. well it was less than 1 year but i had put on 20000 miles. so i had to shell out 450 to replace the motor. i guess infiniti is proud that their parts will only last less than a year.

I don't understand.

Isn't the window motor covered by the factory for 4 years /60,000 miles?
Even if it goes out a dozen times the factory should still pay the dealer to replace it.

I agree that it's most likely the anti-pinch mechanism. If you don't feel like taking your car to the Dealer, you may be able to get it to work properly by lubricating the insulation above the window. Compare the insulation above the window that doesn't work properly to the one that does, and if it appears a little stiffer you may be able to correct the problem with a little bit of lubrication.

sorry for the words , but are you guys crazy to replace the motor?! it is not the motor.. have you ever tried to close the window when the door is opened??? I have and it never goes down after engaging the auto function..

window motor function is to roll the window up/down and if it does there is a small chance it is broken, isn`t it ?!??
