You have to think of it this way, it's all about needs.
The S2000 is a great Sunday weekend car with 2 seats.
The G35 is a great everyday car with 4 seats.
- Don't argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.=P-

We have a G35S and an S2K, and they’re both very cool but different cars. I would check out the S2K boards. Supposedly, a lot of people are complaining about the 04s. I guess they lowered the redline on the car and there are many people who aren’t too happy about it. There were other complaints, but I don’t remember what my hubby was telling me. Really though, do you want a convertible, do you want a 2 or 4 seater? Personally, I like the G better, but I’m biased. Either way, I’m sure you’ll be happy!

The cars aren't in the same class, and don't fill the same needs. Decide what kind of car you want first, then choose within that category.
In the roadster class, I'd take the 350Z over the S2K though.

Yeah, the 04 Honda is supposed to be less pure. Which means they're better for use as daily drivers than 03s, but not as good if you want a street legal race car. Since the G is clearly a better car than either as a daily driver (but not as good a race car), I don't think that was a smart move on their part. They should have built another car based on the S2000 model if they wanted to do something like that. Like an Acura version of the S2000, with a hardtop.

the only downside I can tell the 04' will have is that it is going to get a softer suspension. Hopefully, it won't lose the handling that is its best feature. It is also supposed to get a redesigned dash that hopefully will change the digital lightboard to clocks. But, regardless these are 2 completely different cars. I came out of a Miata before getting my G. The only convertible I looked at was an S2000. When I decided not to get an S2000, I chose not to get a convertible at all. My final decision was between a G35 and a Z06.

Now having had both a 2002 S2000 and a 2004 G35 Coupe 6MT, I'd have to say that unless you want a convertible, the G35 is the better way to go. I got rather tired of having to "blip" the gas before starting from a stop. The low RPM torque/HP is ridiculously low. However, the virtually limitless RPM redline was a true blast.
The new 2004 model only has 10 more lbs. of torque and the same amount of HP.
The 350Z Roadster is a nice car also, but the interior is cheap, and it weighs more than my G35 (and costs more).
You want to know anything about an S2000, just ask. I loved the car, but just got tired of it as a daily driver (and I thought I wouldn't get tired of it).

Re: s2000 or g35 c..
I currently own an S2000 and am looking at getting a G35. My decision is based on having a baby on the way and the need for a car that I can put a baby seat in in a pinch. Like so many have said the s2000 is a completely different type of car. I have driven mine on one long road trip and wouldn't recommend it for that purpose. It is meant for play not practicality. Any drive longer than two hours is tough the car just isn't meant for comfort.
If you are looking for a fun weekend car for not a lot of money that is in limited distribution and gets lots of looks the S2000 is the right way to go. If you are looking for anything else don't get it.
Car and driver did a nice comparison of the S2000 to the 350Z, the BMW z4, the Audi TT, and the Porsche Boxter. Worth reading. The only car rated close to the S2000 was the 350Z.
All I have heard about the new S2000 makes it sound like they are aiming for a more "main stream" car. I think it is a mistake on their part. The S2000 unitl now has been a pure drivers car. True it has been knocked for lack of comfort, too noisy inside, no storage, etc. Again a pure drivers car. I will really miss it when I have to sell it. If you do get an S2000 try to get the old model the new one sounds like a lesser car.
