i can't find ANYWHERE here that has a 17mm die!! everything i've seen only goes up to 12mm. anyone know of anything else i can use? i even tryed using a hacksaw to saw off some threards, but i can't even get threw.

maybe i should just buy a new link from the dealer. or do they make aftermarket ones?

Just go to napa and get a die if they dont have one then go to a snap on truck. They will have for for sure!

Take it to any reputable machine shop and they can chase the threads for you.

It really only takes a few minutes.

Snap-On is a brand of tools. They are usually sold directly to mechanics from large trucks. The trucks have Snap-On painted on the sides, hence the name, Snap On trucks...

They are probably the best tools you can buy... IMO... and they are expensive.

Just adding my .02. You mentioned you tried hacksawing through the bolt. Was that in an area that might weaken it when everything is put back together? It wouldn't be fun if that bolt broke while you were going around a corner.

i've driven around w/ the endlink off once. nut came undone and endlink bolt popped off. very sluggish + scary 7 mile drive home.

I know I am too late for you but the same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago when I followed the thread. I ended up using a tap and die set that you rent from Autozone. It worked out good. Yeah like everyone was saying all you have to do is place a jack under the lower control arm and you can take the end link out with your fingers. It's pretty frustrating. I wish someone would fix that do it yourself thread.

yea i know it was frustrating. i didn't sand it down much and my "boss" said that bolt and nuts are made to have 1-5 threads sticking out and i still have about 3, so i'm all good.
