Work-around to beat the cops in cour, tint tickets, clear corners, + no front plates

Debadge your car, and put on the Nissan Skyline 350 badge, so when the cop writes the ticket, it puts the wrong make/model on the ticket.

Then debadge it again and put the original back on and just claim the Cop is incompetent and get off the hook no problem.

Would this work? I know it works for speeding tickets here in NY and other tickets. But think it would work for this?

Looking at this thread and the LP thread, why do you think you are above the law?

That will only work if the cop doesn't know his cars. Believe me, they look at many cars during the day and know body styles like no one else. Also, if by chance you get the cop that doesn't pay attention, the judge could be a real @zz and cite you for exchanging plates with another vehicle...

Remember, your vehicle information is on your registration.

hmm....i got a parking ticket with "Make: Acura" on it...just went to town hall and they got rid of it instantly since i showed them my registration that it was an infiniti. sad thing about it my car isnt debadged so i dont know how he came up wiht acura. case in point..the ticket was dismissed. maybe because it was just a parking one? i dont know.

In a former life, I represented clients in traffic court. I don't think such a defense will cut it, at least here in Florida. Judges/magistrates have tremendous discretion, so no harm in giving it a swing, but I think you're still going to get rung up.

Side note...how come so many get cited for lack of a front plate? I can understand the occasional "moving violation", but if you're in a jurisdiction that requires a front plate, wtf?... I can't think of a more obvious invitation for a visit with law enforcement.

good luck

it doesnt matter if they write the make/model wrong. As long as they have your drivers license number and license plate, your still getting the ticket. I have thought of that too, but i wished it worked

jb, the cop would never bring that to court for such a small violation. Those things are for like if the driver gets out and hits the cop or some crap. :P

I guess it varies state to state, but I'm pretty damn sure this would work here in NY. I know plenty of people that the cop wrote the wrong year or something down and they got off the hook immediately, and for speeding tickets even which are more severe.

your driving record is NOT attached to your car via make/model. its attached via your license plate and registration. your car is registered as an infiniti G35...not a skyline nor a 350gt nor anything else. you might get past some BS ticket...but i highly doubt a speeding/reckless...thats like committing murder and trying to claim it was your identical twin when your fingerprints are on the body and murder weapon. even twins have DIFFERENT prints...

pdjafari, Definitely wouldn't be a work-around for that.

I'm just saying like the smaller things like minor speeding tickets, no front plate, tinted windows, clear corners etc

Not that easy... My friend had a parking ticket in Boston.. They listed his car as FL plates, when it was actually from NJ... Didn't get off.
