Why do people feel it is okay to ignore the SES light?! It comes on for a reason, find out what it is. You can take it and have the code scanned and find out why the computer is throwing the light. Incidentally, that may be why your mileage is in the toilet. When that little light comes on the car will go into "limp mode" which makes it run pig rich to protect the engine.

Try an ecu reset....if the light comes back, you need a scan to see what triggers the light.
