$350 for 15k Service?!?

I just called to setup an appointment for my 15k service and they told me it would run about $350. I asked what they do for that money and basically they change the oil, a couple of filters and then do a bunch of "inspections". Basically it sounded to me like they do the same thing a freakin full service car wash does only they charge an extra $325. I think what I'm going to do is show up to my appointment with a list of TSB's I want taken care of and just forget about the 15k service!

Air filter, oil fitler, check tire pressure, check all fluid (i.e. brake, clutch, transmisiion, etc) and fill up the fluid if needed for 350? For 15k miles service, i suspected that you will only have a air filter replacement and oil change. If that is the case, 350 is a lot.

You need to get more detail of what will be perform. Then get a reliable shop to give you a quote. Also look at the manual to see exactly what is need to be change and/or check. Use that as the reference guide.

The number doesn't add up. I wonder when will dealer realize that their service is not any better than outside shop. I used to think that because they are the dealer they should know more about our car, but most of the time, this is not the case.

my 2 cents

Those dealer checkups are a ripoff. Anyone with substandard car knowledge can do this on their own for a fraction of the price. This is just to take advantage of the people that... well, are a tad ignorant and aren't aware of it(is that being redundant?)

Infiniti of Scottsdale

My appointment is for 10:30 this Thursday but like I said, unless they change their tune when I get there I'm just going to hand them my list of TSB's that need fixing and tell them to forget the 15k "service"!

Did you call Midway? I think I remember a sign in their service drive comparing their prices to Scottsdale’s. I don’t remember any of the prices, but if they’re comparing, it may be worth a phone call to see if they’re any cheaper.

g35mt and narkotic are right on. The dealers love to "check" and 'Inspect." Well, check and inspect is absolutely nothing, other than the tech's wage per hour. That's nothing but visual, not about repair or replace. You're gonna get a $350 oil change and not much more. If you really need to, I would find a reputable Nissan/Infiniti independant, in your area, that won't charge you the $75 an hour for "check" and "inspect."
