Re: G35 Coupe resale looks better than 350Z's
The problem with Supras is trying to find one for book price. No one wanted to buy them new because they were over-priced, but a 40K mile 98' 6-sp commands $37K these days, while an auto commands $33K. There are low mileage 97-98' Supras that actually sell for over their original list today. The difference goes down as the cars get older and higher mileage. Supras are different from other cars in that there is a large demand only after the production ended. If you start looking at Supraforums.com and autotrader then you will see these large differences.

Even though I own a manual I tend to think the G will probably have a higher resale with the auto. I don't think the Supra TT or the vette is a good comparison because we are talking about pure sports cars that primarily appeal to enthusiasts. The G has a much wider appeal and a good percentage of its potential buyers are going to be casual luxury car buyers drawn in by its looks, luxury, and/or nameplate - not necessarily its handling, power, or driving dynamics... and these people are most likely to desire an auto.
If you were to limit your potential buyers to the sports car enthusiast crowd, there's no doubt the MT will hold more value, but I tend to think the auto by virtue of its broader appeal will overall command a higher price in the market.

and back to topic, always(except performance) g > z period... enough said
P.S Infiniti is an awesome company, but why so poor resale values compare to other luxury brand companies?

Yeah, good point mani. I do believe that AT will has higher resale value in this case because as you said, it is a luxury sports car, and most of people buy it because it's luxury, and comfort interior. So more people will preferred this as a daily driven car which will preferred AT. While other pure sports car such as M3, Vette, Supra.. most owners of them are racers, and would go for MT for sure. So the AT should has slightly higher, if any, resale value than the MT on the G35.
I'm more curious about the Coupe v.s Sedan resale value, it seems to me many Sedan owners wish to switch their sedan to a coupe, and i haven't seen anyone with a coupe would trade in their coupe for a sedan. So does this means higher demand on the Coupe? means higher resale value?
