After polishing my plenum. i wonder if anyone has polished there OEM 19's? since theres a clear coat. i guess i'd have to sand it down with rougher then very fine sandpaper and then polish with polish and buffer. has anyone done this??? i really don't want to **** up my rims!!

thats take a risk and doing so by hand will take a very long time. It would be the same as guys that polish motorcycle frames by hand. I suggest using a dremel.

Yeah, it would take forever because of the nooks and crannies.

yea i would use the same things i used for my plenum. a power drill w/ buffers and polishing compound and the dremel. but does anyone have experiance doing this? and would it even work?

The rims are paintined and clear coated, so not sure how much you will be able to take off. I would say just keep them clean with soap and water, because chances are if you start sanding you are going to sand through to the base coat on the rims.

A dremel will take care of that, but you do stand a chance of burning the clear as you take it off. I would use a dremel and wet sand the entire time.

saw a how to from way back, it suggested using to strip the paint, then start polishing from there.

i had a friend that did it with his 18's.. took it a place, they sandblasted his rims and then polished them.. cost him $100/rim.. ended up looking really clean while he had them... eventually sold them and got himself some rays.

I would take that to a professional. The time you spend doing that may not at all be worth it.

^ thats what everyone said about the plenum, but it was worth it. but yea i just that was only a 100 dollar plenum not a $1500 worth of rims. too risky i guess since i don't even know whats under the paint. it could be really ugly.
