Re: Prelude driver here

i think prelude has higher insurance rate due to only has 2 air bags and not good enough safety features comapre to new cars... and g coupe has so much better safety features and insurance is looking for safety issues more than anything...

Re: Prelude driver here

LoL...
I used to drive a '94 Vtec Lude...
I do miss the raw speed of my modded lude (13.9 1/4 mile at Palmdale, CA) just the torque alone on the G will make you not miss your honda.
but like everybody says...just test drive and i'm sure you won't look back...
I actually went from '94 Lude -> '02 TL-S -> G35C

Re: Prelude driver here

I have a prelude and a G35... and i have to say my prelude just too much fun to give up. G is very fast and powerful but the prelude is just TOOO MUCH FUN to give up. its soo nimble and quick that the G doesnt even compare.

only thing i love abou tthe G is the RAW power of it. and thats not much fun when you compare it to the prelude.
i'm on PreludeOnline.com if you know that site.

Re: Prelude driver here

I assumed you mean the GT-R? (In Japan the G35 Coupe is the Skyline Coupe with minor difference, just search "skyline coupe" in Yahoo Japan, you will see alot of "G35 Coupe") Anywayz, i don't think they will release the GT-R in here even in 2005 (though the GT-R may be twice expensive as G35) Man, they didn't even have AWD for the G35 coupe here yet! So if you are interested, go test drive it tomorrow and order the 2004 one.

Re: Prelude driver here

I have a '95 Prelude and am looking at the G35 also. From test driving the fully loaded 6MT sedan, I can tell it's got gobs more torque and HP, but you can really tell how much heavier it is when you go around turns. The Prelude (which initially felt much heavier than my Integra or Civic) feels so much lighter and nimble around corners.

So, my dilemma is that I want to keep the Prelude and get a new car...but I don't want to buy a car that will basically take the place of everything the Prelude does. So, I'm actually looking more at the G35 6MT sedan than the coupe (although the coupe has a really awesome-looking body).

Basically, I'm down to: G35 6MT sedan (wondering when they'll offer a 6MT G35x sedan for snowboarding trips); 2002 Audi S4 (no experience with turbos though so I'll have to learn how to work on them, plus it's used); 2004 BMW 330i w/performance pacakge (nicer finish than the G but also about $5-7k more and long-term reliability once the free all-inclusive maintainance is over is a big concern); 2004 BMW 330xi (woohoo AWD 6MT sedan, but no performance package); Volvo S60R and Subaru Impreza STi are also in there but the Volve seems like too much of an "old person's" car while the STi seems like too much of a "kid's car".

Re: Prelude driver here

thanks for the replies guys.. Have you noticed how G35's have VERY similar headlights to the lude...infact, most new cars do.

Re: Prelude driver here

former '99 type sh driver here. imo with the automatic torque transfer system on the type sh, it's handling felt similar to g35c. that's where similarities end. interior room, amenities, RWD, 6-spd......also the big torque in the g means you can creep along in 3rd or 4th gear in traffic instead of having to row the gears frequently in the prelude. prelude sure did love to rev though....
