You need to IMMEDIATELY file a claim with his insurance company for diminished value. Your vehicle is now worth several thousand less, due to the fact it was in a major accident. Carfax will surely list this damage, and most used-car buyers find this unacceptable. Also, if you go to trade it in, most dealerships will only sell "certified used" vehicles on their lots. Your car can't be "certified" with major damage, even if it is fixed. So the dealership will have to auction your car instead, and that means you get several thousand less at trade-in. Either way, private party or dealer trade-in, you are going to take a big hit.
His insurance company owes you money for diminished value. You can also sue him personally if his insurance company gives you problems.

I'm definitely planning to file a diminished value claim. The funny/ironic/irritating thing is that both he and I have the same insurance carrier which makes it rather interesting.
It's funny, after it happened, obviously I was upset (my wife burst into tears), but as the insurance process went on I got angrier and angrier about the situation, especially with regards to diminished value, etc. So I plan to make sure I'm very well compensated for this *******'s stupidity. But at the end of the day, as many of you have said, at least we weren't in or around the car when it happened. I keep telling myself that when I get upset about it.
Oh and he was driving a late 90s GMC pickup. When I first saw the damage, I was convinced it was a small airplane that hit my car. Or some kind of dinosaur.
How'd he manage just to isolate the hit to front. I mean like goin down a straight road, unless your tire was turned and he was driving soo close that he hit that and did what he did...I dunno, as long as no frame damage and it was just bolt on parts, everything is should be good. I definitely recommend takin it to infiniti to get it tweaked. I had a 2003 involved in an accident that came up to 20k+ and I had to tweak out a buncha little problems between the dealer and the shop that fixed it to get it 100 percent. However, after all of that, everything was great and car ran fine for the period that I kept it for...Don't listen to the radio for a while, just listen to and feel the car out and make sure you question everything that feels/seems abnormal..Also that pic showin the debris, is that where the car was originally parked?? And to back your statement up 150%, this is definitiely definitely one of the safer cars out on the road today. That comes from first hand experience.

Use some polish, a good orbital, and some elbow grease and it'll buff right out. Be glad that you went back to bed and didn't see his car to chase him. I'm sure you would have ran after the guy to rip his head off and then he would be suing you for assualt. God knows I woulda made the guy grab his ankles and then some
